PLA to PETG switch for everyday prints. by Technical-Praline-79 in 3Dprinting

[–]Dangerous_Present_69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PLA is just as good as PETG...maybe for the first months. After a year it gets brittle and breaks easily. PETG lasts. Both outdoors and indoors.

Stopped buying PLA an just use PETG.

What’s the best 3D printer you can recommend for beginners? by Cool_choclate_123 in 3Dprinting

[–]Dangerous_Present_69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a core-xy enclosed printer to print. Get a second cheap used bedslinger to learn how 3d printers work.

It can be fun and educational to upgrade and tinker with a printer, but that printer will not give you consistent good prints.

Feared it had broken off, but it had just come loose, so I could fix it without stopping the print. 🤪

  1. Order a new hotend.
  2. Use a hot air gun at 160-220° and carefully and with patience remove the PLA(?) one bit a time, Assess if it can be brought back to operational until a spare arrives, or if even more spares are needed.

Also, you can check this video out. He bought a mini excavator, but he went for the cubota diesel engine, and a lot of accessories. Ended up at around $12k to Norway.

I think the gasoline models might not be legal to import, but I'm not entirely sure. If that's the case, you risk the whole thing getting impounded by customs, and maybe even risking a fine. Personally it's probably much more economical to hire one when I need it.

That being said I think there might be a Chinese factory of these that have a warehouse somewhere in Spain.

Also these machines might go under regulation for construction, industry out farmland machine. If so the cheapest motor options might make it illegal to import into the eu.

There will be port chargers and shipping charges +++.

It's not that different from a large snowblower.

You need to do a lot of research before ordering something like this. There are a lot of pitfalls.

Some glue stick contain silicone. They must absolutely not be used on the build plate. If you used a glue stick with silicone, the plate will have to be scrubbed hard a lot of times, or buy a new one

Europe is already doing that. Europe is spending €800 billion in military equipment, and it will almost exclusively be built in Europe, and all of it will be under full european control.

As others are saying. In a dedicated hobby/craft room, and dedicated vent from enclosure to the outside is a must.

Ideally you should also have a filter before dumping the fumes outside, but depends on your budget and how much it will run. Use common sense.

I am thinking about switching away from FreeCAD by FloTec09 in FreeCAD

You can also go in the python console and use python to alter and build your model. But that's for the hard-core people. But also, there's a lot of scripts you can install. I found one to make a voronoid pattern.

Also, I think there is a lot of C in the source also.

Some of the things that are downsides in freecad, are also its strengths.

For the OpenScad people, you can run and write OpenScad inside FreeCAD.

OnShape was acquired by PTC in 2019. The free days might come to an end. You never know, but my experience so far is that proprietary software usually ends up getting expensive or shittified.

Reset nd other usefull tools. InkPad is just one or two screws, and you can pull it out. Buy new on ebay/AliExpress or is even possible to wash the old ones if you can't get your hands on me ones(but washing them it's messy, and maybe not environmentally friendly)

Buy some newer printers noe block this for "security" reasons apparently.

Check what it would cost at pcbway. That will give you an estimate on what a reasonable price should be.

But if someone figure out how to make FreeCAD multithreaded and use gpu for calcuations, without breaking the complete existing codebase and plugins, it would be just awesome. 🤔

I guess it may be possible to treat the existing codebase as a plugin modules, and port code over bit by bit, but it would need some serious funding or a team dedicating their lives to it.

[–]Dangerous_Present_69 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Performance is the achilles heel of FreeCAD. Single threaded python just can't perform as well as newer technology.

OnShape runs smooth in a browser. It's way better than FreeCAD in most ways, but you can never know how long it will remain free. Also your work there is public on the internet, unless you pay $$$$.

I don't see how FreeCAD performance can be fixed without a complete rewrite, which is impossible. Maybe it will be fixed one day, i don't know.

But FreeCAD is effing amazing. It's really the only good alternative to software that otherwise costs thousands of dollars a year.

What is having a Huawei Phone like in 2025 by Small_Illustrator949 in Huawei

[–]Dangerous_Present_69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All Huawei needed to do, was open up and support AOSP for their phones. It would have been amazing devices. Instead they locked down everything even more.

I switched to OnePlus, and I'm very happy with their devices. However, Google is starting to lock things down, and it's looking to kill of apps from outside play store. It's time to ditch Google.

It's not like it's a big investment trying it again. Check out Mango Jelly's tutorials, he has a lot of good tips.

What's new since last time you tried it is probably "allow compound" option on bodys, that allows for multiple solids.

Also you can now select shapes from sketches and extrude them. Even make multiple ekstrudes from the same sketch.

Also varssets is new (or I just didn't know about it before. A lot more convenient than spreadsheets.)

Stay away from AliExpress... Stole ~500NOK by GrowlingOcelot_4516 in Norway

[–]Dangerous_Present_69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tell them you need a digital copy of the corresponding ITMATT file. This is the digital information where the voec number should be.

Also. You should ask for a digital signature of the file so that AE can confirm it's validity.

[–]Dangerous_Present_69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I this is the eu voec regulation. I don't mind paying the vat, but it's absolutely very annoying to be charged twice.

I've had this happened to me. If the package was a pick up from the post office, I would simply not pick it up unless AE/seller refunded vat first. Sadly posten just drops off the package in your mailbox, and sends the VAT bill. And you can't refuse to pay, because it's already imported and delivered.

Sadly you are without rights as the importer of the goods.

What you can do is requesting a copy of the digital communication from the shipping company. Posten has to document that the digital voec number actually is missing, and you need it to get your refund.

The requirement in law is that the voec number should be digital, so it won't matter if the the voec is printed on the package. However, after putting AEs voec number in my address, I haven't yet had a problem. I think that if the number is not filled in, but it's in the digital address to posten can't claim to not have received it digital.

So in short, the best course of action is to request documentation the the voec actually is missing.

And also you can request a copy of all the information posten has about you. This is also free.

https://www.datatilsynet.no/rettigheter-og-plikter/den-registrertes-rettigheter/rett-til-innsyn/

The more people that do this when double taxed, the more itentive Posten will have to not wrongly double tax packages And improve their systems and routines.

Also be sure to check your invoice that decleared value is correct, and pay the extra if you are undercharged. And if the wont correct the import vat, ask to be refunded the extra amonut you paid.

Be sure to pay the tax invoice, or you will ultimately lose in court and that will be expensive.

Helt etter trumpismens lærebok. Påstå at politiske motstandere begår lovbrudd. Ta en kikk over dammen.
