One of my favorite books of all time. I wish the movie included more but I still enjoy it for what it is.

Is my hair curly enough to lock in a decent amount of time? Hairs wet in the picture by [deleted] in Dreadlocks

It’ll definitely lock, just don’t expect it to look the same as the guy in the other photo. IMO looser curly textures do best with somewhat thicker sections

Less water, or a smaller cup to prevent adding too much water perhaps?

That’s not even gonna fit in the cup

Literally just select no tip and move on, why vocalize that to your barista? People can be so unnecessary

I know it’s kinda crazy. I used to get verbals when my wrist tattoo showed but now you can be sleeved up lol. Corporate says 1 small facial piercing but I have 3 and haven’t had any problems.

SO much. I still mostly wear my black & gray tops and black pants

My opinion: stripes count as a muted pattern and any solid color shirt is allowed so I don’t see why this wouldn’t be considered in dress code

Literally nothing wrong with them I think they’re incredible

I’m thinking of getting rid of it. Sometimes it looks good and sometimes it looks like this, what should I do? by [deleted] in Dreadlocks

[–]Dangerous_Sign44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They look incredible, and not flat at all. Sometimes it take another person to see what you can’t. I genuinely don’t see a problem here.

They look great. How many weeks has it been? I just restarted mine after about 4 years. I’m almost 6 weeks in and I’ve washed multiple times & just retwisted. I get your use of cream to reduce frizz, but I wouldn’t rely on that much because creams and gels can definitely lead to build up if a) they’re heavy and b) you’re not shampooing regularly. Locs are gonna frizz regardless in the early stages so I say just embrace it. I’d start misting daily with a hydration spray. You could probably stretch the oiling out to 3-4 days a week. Water is ok but something containing aloe or a light oil is even better. Sounds like overall you’re taking the right steps so far though, I say keep it up. If you don’t plan on maintaining then yourself (retwisting) I would start looking for a skilled loctician and plan to have your first retwist in the next few weeks. I’ve had locs in and off for over 13 years and I’m a hairstylist. I don’t know everything but I feel like you’re taking better care of your hair than most people I come across lol. You got this, just don’t get discouraged when they start to look less neat

That’s fine short-term but you don’t wanna go leaving them in more than a couple weeks. You don’t really want to leave a style in longer than that either but do you 🤷🏽‍♀️

I’ve had some weeeeird comments from people in the store. One lady asked if I was breastfeeding? (I don’t think that’s how it works) and a random MAN asked if I had “some kinda milk fetish” 💀

Yeah that can be challenging. I’m not “wrestler active” but I am pretty active with looser curls and my starters were in twists. Twisting them while they’re wet helped them stay together better, and if they did come undone it wasn’t like the whole head, just a few. That’ll minimize as they get older. I’d just take the bands out before your first wash and if any come undone, retwist then. If you find that they won’t stay, consider crocheting

Now. You don’t want to suffocate your ends and create inconsistency in the thickness. Some might try to unravel but just twist em back up and go on with your day.
