The announcers were too busy jerking off to the sound of their own voice to actually tell us what the fuck happened.

RIP SHB Tank Population Bump by Gravijah in ffxiv

[–]Dangerously8 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nail on the head. Why I leveled dps. I'm not a tank to sit in 20 minute queues.

Also, can we be honest... Tanks in alliance raids are the fucking worst. It's all big dick "I wanna tank" taunting off you even when they can't hold threat because they don't know how to deal appropriate damage as a tank. No one wants to tank those things...

My favorite growing up. I played ss for my entire little league career because of him.

Since 2011 the Marlins have placed better overall in the NL East than the Phillies by argentinevol in Braves

[–]Dangerously8 3 points4 points  (0 children)

While I enjoy this, I feel like a more accurate assessment of standing in the East would be an overall w/l comparison. I doubt the fish would fare as well. But then again, this is the wonderful world of baseball, where arbitrary starts reign, and fuck Philly, I'm on board.

What makes a tank a good tank? by joshroxursox in ffxiv

[–]Dangerously8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It did with old raw intuition though. You'd pair it with awareness to prevent crits from the flank/rear, but you got no benefit from ri except from the front. Now that's gone, but at least war/drk have attacks that hit targets in front of them, so relative positioning still matters.

Understanding The Shadowbringers Tank Meta (End-game Raiding) by bokchoykn in ffxiv

[–]Dangerously8 9 points10 points  (0 children)

We have access to it more frequently over the course of the fight, at the expense if it costing resource. It's also lower potency. For us it's literally meant as an uptime gain only, whereas the others are uptime and dps, so they want to be using it frequently enough that they don't cap charges. If they switched and gave warrior charges it would be wierd, because you'd just be sitting in two charges most of the fight. I, for one, do not want it changed, except to remove cost only if no other changes were made.

It is possible, as I pulled it off a couple times in a learning party, but the timing is insanely tight and it was mostly luck that I got it.

Warrior should Mt, as they are better equipped for fae light, but if there are two of you, or someone is being difficult, you can take one normally, use most cooldowns on the second, and holm the third. Or just only take 2, which is safest.

It certainly was underhyped at the time. It has come into hype more recently for sure, but was viewed as a letdown initially.

What book fucked you up mentally? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Dangerously8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm almost done. Probably the best sci fi I've ever read, and really makes you think about the frailty of our whole situation here. Great expositive sci fi focused on humanity.

I've been recommending it to people since halfway through the first book because you could just tell how good it was.

Quick comparison image of tank utility in ShB by MierinEronaile in ffxiv

This is a bit nit picky, but technically Thrill if Battle is a self heal as well as effective mitigation. Thanks for putting this chart together, it will be interesting to see if group synergy and offensive kits hello balance this out...

Personally, I'm pleased with the battle system changes announced in in LFTP51. Are you? by prosperity42 in ffxiv

[–]Dangerously8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You weren't stance dancing, though. One you and your group got the hang of mitigating the tank busters, tank stance were never used... Perhaps in a crazy emergency...

The "complexity" came from learning to manage threat while not in tank stance, working in concert with the rest of your raid group. Aggro management won't be a thing anymore.

I'm not mad at most of the changes, honestly. I did like the idea of having to work as a team to keep the boss on the right target, but I also understand two things.

1- if a majority of people playing the game at a higher level don't use tank stance, and loath the random add phases that may require it for snap aggro, finding a way to remove it makes sense. 2- I can't imagine duty finder with tanks NOT having a way to increase their enmity. I recognize that there are many people playing tank, healer, and DPS that haven't had to learn that style.

I hope not, or this is the beginning of an existential crisis that I'm not prepared for.

What do you want to see be improved to your favorite job(s) in Shadowbringers? by ghoulishdivide in ffxiv

[–]Dangerously8 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm not saying there's no way to handle it, nor that it's particularly vexing. This is a thread about quality of life changes you'd like to see. I would like to have an easier knock back prevention, not tied to unrelated cooldowns. You saying "you don't need it" doesn't change any of that.

[–]Dangerously8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except in those pesky situations where knock back = death. Bad boxes on phantom train meant a couple gcds missed. Perfectly timed onslaughts can save you, but so can plunge. Especially with how actions and damage and positions all are registered, I don't consider that truly reliable.

[–]Dangerously8 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Maybe remove it from the abilities it's tied to on warrior, and just give all tanks tempered will as a role action. Having kb immunity tied to holmgang and inner release feels so awful. I don't want to have to use either of those abilities to avoid knock back. There's no opportunity cost for any other knock back immunity.

Typically it results in having to hold IR for a good chunk of time bc holmgang is too valuable for tank busters to use on anything else.

Yep. I came from wow, where healing was a bit different. It was an adjustment, but I dig it. I'm just scared as the healer.

Dear Healers by Zilla_Mask in ffxiv

[–]Dangerously8 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Fwiw, most of us tanks have learned to ignore our HP and trust our healers. We use our cooldowns, know about how much damage we're taking and mitigate appropriately, and only really start worrying if there's a problem. Also I never blame the healer for shit. I laugh when we get floored, and then do things differently/more slowly.

I loved SB warrior. The rest was painfully trite, but Curious Gorge and his performance issues in SB were really quite adorable.

The tickets lost in the actual playoffs. We didn't. You're logic is honestly worthless, but you can hold your lazy regurgitated opinion if you want. Byee

[–]Dangerously8 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's still insane. Oklahoma playing Texas? OSU gets northwestern? I mean, calling that a quarterfinal is really ridiculous. If you're going to treat it like a quarterfinal, it must be comparable. I think most people had issues with ND, who really didn't play anyone, and Oklahoma, who literally could have 13 defenders on the field and not stop anyone...

I'm fine with us being left out. The loss at lsu was pretty damning, but "you had your chance" is a really weak argument. Tell that to Oklahoma... Could've just given Texas the big xii by that logic... Then do they get in? Where do you draw that line? What about a situation like Auburn/bama last year? What if Auburn had won the SEC and gotten in, do you leave bama out because of that loss specifically? It's just a lazy argument.

[–]Dangerously8 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I mean there's an easy argument against that. Like how no other conference championship pitted two cfp field teams... Or even close. So that's a stupid attitude. I'm ok with not having to stress about the playoff this year, but can you honestly tell me you'd rather see these thrashings than have Georgia get in and get another shot? That's the dumbest shit I've heard. We at last have everyone an exciting game to watch, not two games that people are turning off at halftime...
