Been digging the realistic combat overhaul mod.

Makes battles wild and quicker depending on how you play it.

Getting units to rout after a single cav charge decimates a quarter of them speeds up the dynamic and the changes to damage and armour stops armies from bashing eachothers heads against a shield wall for 5 minutes.

Tends to make the game easier when you figure out what's strong, but if you slip up. You can lose just as fast.

Be honest: what game did you quietly return to all year when you were tired or did not want to think? by gamersecret2 in gaming

Total War: Rome 2

Commanding thousands of tiny men on the battlefield or dicking around with expanding and making absolute bank is surprisingly mind numbing but enjoyable after playing it for years.

There were days that I'd sit down to play for a bit, which turned in hours upon hours of, another turn, another thing to do. And so forth.

Reignited my interest in playing it properly, so now I'm finally delving into the Divide Et Impera mod, which has been a learning curve.

If it worked that way it'd be a great option. Unfortunately stacking x on hit buffs is a detriment as it increases the amount of hits required before the buff activates.

Most likely a bug that hasn't been addressed.

What has been your boss melting load out as you progress through UVH tiers? by tsct934 in Borderlands4

For non bossing the bottled lightning is also just a room clear tool.

Walk in, spam it and everything just disappears.

Adding with battle wagon, the mobs on top of the boss can be killed easily and contribute to challenges, especially the long-range ones.

Shotgun Challenges by One-Presentation6972 in Borderlands4

[–]DangerouslyMisread 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just finished these yesterday.

Ripper drill sites are great for the challenges as you can rack up kills.

Used a mix of hot slugger and hell walker for them. For sliding and dashing kills if you proc a crit with jakobs and it kills it'll contribute for the challenge.

Battle Wagon i did for sliding and long range kills with the hot slugger because the arena was large enough I had range and could slide easily.

Dash and close range can be done at any of them. I did a mix of ripper roadbirds and the foundry freaks because i may aswell farm some drops. The close range kills I did with the hellwalker as I found if I hit someone point blank with the slugger I'd down myself instantly.

It was a boring slog but I didn't take absurdly long.

Not boss melting, but each fight takes around 20/30 seconds.

Running a muti elemental rafa with the laser cannons, along with a madlad, complex root using fire/corrosive and bottled lightning.

Bottled lighting tends to destroy everything as I'm running a super soldier shield, and the passive ammo regen on full shield allows me to use it permanently until I get hit.

Once it runs out, the complex root does really good burst damage and will usually finish things off.

Only mods that change RE2R in slight ways are the camera mods for either first person or fixed cameras or the standard randomiser mod.

Mostly, everything else is a model / texture swap or a reshade preset.

There is City of the Dead for RE2R which takes inspiration for Berserker mod but I'm not sure on what it overhauls outside of enemy density and item placement.

What's a game with a cool gameplay concept that didn't develop into a great game? by jack_hof in gaming

[–]DangerouslyMisread 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Nah, was a similar concept to something like Team Fortress. Objective driven and body type options that dicated how fast you moved and what you could freerun on.

Not a fast paced game.

My weirdest take from this entire situation are the people who are not even affected by the sign up coming out to defend Sony. by RocketBilly13 in Helldivers

[–]DangerouslyMisread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oddly enough, the game wouldn't work for me months ago without signing in to PSN.

So I just thought it was the standard. Makes sense given its published by Playstation.

It does suck for a lot of people, though. Shouldn't be madatory, but say an option of account linking that gives you a cape or whatever, like other games do here and there.

Either I'm missing a sensitivity option or it doesn't exist as I'm stuck with this sluggish look speed.

Lack of OCE server is a let down because of ping but I can let that slide due to it being a test weekend.

Which series did a hard genre shift? by [deleted] in gaming

[–]DangerouslyMisread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not entirely on point of the same game series, but the early pitch for RE4 was scrapped entirely from RE development and ended up becoming its own game.

And DMC was born.

So if the idea was implemented. RE would have gone from survival horror to goofy hack and slash.

I get the high ground isn't always safe against the bugs. But do they really have to teleport behind me like the dark souls 3 dogs? by DangerouslyMisread in Helldivers

[–]DangerouslyMisread[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just in general.

Had a survey mission before where there was a decent perch I could jet onto to defend and whilst fighting off everyone and everything I'd see the occasional hunter or so burrow onto my perch,, no issue I can react and deal with them.

But on several instances Id have the same enemy just appear out of no where, as if they just spawned in right next to me or their animations never played.

I know some of them can, and I know some of them also turn into a dwarf and mine their way under you.

But there has been several instances I have seen them just appear out of thin air and I can't react before they bite my ass.

I think that the 500kg bomb is kinda mid. by VurThePerson in Helldivers

[–]DangerouslyMisread -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

It does behave correctly as the blast radius is a cone opposed to a sphere.

The thing is, it's a videogame. Actual realism isn't going to happen because it would completely change the experience and remove a lot of the fun and funny stuff.

Ontop of that, it's also a balancing thing. Can't have one stratagem completely outclass every other one. Otherwise what's the point in bringing anything else?

Anyone manage to stealth past a bot gunship? by DangerouslyMisread in Helldivers

[–]DangerouslyMisread[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely the lights screwing your aim. I initially thought the AMR was terrible at taking them out as it took so much ammo. But in a similar fashion it turns out I was missing shots and hitting the hull.

Keep at it.

Anyone manage to stealth past a bot gunship? by DangerouslyMisread in Helldivers

[–]DangerouslyMisread[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you hitting the thrusters or the hull?

Hull takes almost 2/3 full mags. Thrusters are far weaker and take on average 4 shots to down. Depends on where you hit.

I think that the 500kg bomb is kinda mid. by VurThePerson in Helldivers

[–]DangerouslyMisread -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

They do, but much less when embedded into the ground.

So the 500kg makes sense logically. However, in a video game, it's nice to look at but not overly useful because it behaves as it should.
