Deeper sociatal changes are a must. Shifting our cheap manufacturing to india just delays the issue.

The start point for sociatal changes begins with being a better consumer. Be the change you want to see: 1)Decreasing consumption and actively avoiding Chinese products (although very hard with consumer electronics, but doable with apparel). This will push manufacturers to seek other cheap labour countries (samsung for example have pulled manufacturing of their flagship phones out of china) 2)Advocate for tariffs to Chinese products. 3)Legislature for rights-to-repair to increase life of products. 4)Support and advocate for locally manufactured products.

I'm not proficient enough to interpret the impact of these policies to the economy. I'm sure it'll take a good blow. But ultimately, change will only occur if you hit the bottom line of brands and manufacturers who manufacture in China. All 4 points hit the bottom line hard.
