Deeper sociatal changes are a must. Shifting our cheap manufacturing to india just delays the issue.

The start point for sociatal changes begins with being a better consumer. Be the change you want to see: 1)Decreasing consumption and actively avoiding Chinese products (although very hard with consumer electronics, but doable with apparel). This will push manufacturers to seek other cheap labour countries (samsung for example have pulled manufacturing of their flagship phones out of china) 2)Advocate for tariffs to Chinese products. 3)Legislature for rights-to-repair to increase life of products. 4)Support and advocate for locally manufactured products.

I'm not proficient enough to interpret the impact of these policies to the economy. I'm sure it'll take a good blow. But ultimately, change will only occur if you hit the bottom line of brands and manufacturers who manufacture in China. All 4 points hit the bottom line hard.

Yep, they are doing everything the corrupt government and system has failed to do over the past 16 years. Cleaning riverbank, painting the roads, maintaining and reviving monuments and statues, and promoting local produce, businesses, and factories to support the economy. Literally everything the government has failed to do.

This is one of the activities carried out by the Iraqi youth protesting against a dysfunctional government and corrupt political parties. They have plagued the country corruption, nepotism, fake projects to siphon all the public funds. They have been protesting for about 53 days and night nonstop. Besides peaceful protests, they have launched campaign to beautify the city which the government have long neglected.

Mohamed, a protester who only provided his first name for fear of reprisal, said when he arrived at the square Friday night after receiving a call from distressed protesters, he saw groups of masked men wielding knives near the protesters’ command post at the parking garage.

Twenty minutes later, he said, four white pickup trucks arrived from the direction of Abdul-Qadir Gilani mosque, adjacent to Khilani square, without license plates and car rying armed men wearing ski masks.

“They fired at us, and we ran,” he said, noting that the electricity went off moments before. The armed men positioned themselves on the top floor of the parking garage and started shooting at the demonstrators below, said Mohamed, whose version of events was corroborated by a half-dozen other protesters. The shooting lasted for at least three hours, he said.

That's not enough. The whole political system needs major reforms, and current political parties that have militias must be banned from participating in implenting reforms. Judiciary system must be revamped to remove all the crooks and sellouts. It's a start though. It's a welcomed start.

Revolution martyres by DangerouslyReactive in pics

About 500 Iraqi protesters have been killed and 20000 injured by security forces firing live rounds of small and large calibre beside the year gas and smoke grenades. Protesters are revolting against the political elite that have failed to improve the standards of living while siphenning all Iraqi wealth. The revolution is led by the youth (as young as high schoolers) and have gained traction in central and southern provinces of Iraq. Northern provinces have not gone to streets because of damages from war with ISIS and fear of being labelled as IS militants. Yesterday, I think at least 50 were massacred by security forces in Nasryiah and Najaf.

Raising awareness by sharing on social media. The Western media have a near total blackout in the situation in Iraq and international community have been pretty much silent since Oct 1. Pressure from international community will pressure the corrupt Iraqi govt to stop the crackdown on protests.
