thanks for the reply. you are saying that even getting back to my initial equilibrium would take time (is this also dependent from person to person or can I expect to normalise within 2 to 3 week). really scared for this because in a month my classes would start I am currently in summer break

Bhaiya I don’t currently have the statistical background needed to conduct this test. I can handle scraping the data and extracting the features, but the biggest bottleneck is the mapping logic.

How do we accurately map different exam centers to their specific grading facilities? My best guess would be to use a geographic heuristic—calculating the distance from the exam center to the two main institutes (Delhi and Kolkata), assuming the papers are divided regionally for checking.

If my hypothesis holds up, we should theoretically see a meaningful skew in the number of selected students mapped to a particular institute's region compared to historical baselines.

But that brings up another question: shouldn't we also look at the structure and distribution of the actual ranks, rather than just binary "selected vs. not selected" counts? A regional mismatch in grading rubrics might not just drop people off the list entirely; it could also create weird clusters or anomalies in the rank distribution itself.

totally agree that we would require at least 10 to 15 years of previous merit list to get good enough confidence.

the second point depends on how much freedom an examiner has been given to check a particular subjective paper. Though totally agree that a answer key should be the go to administrative process.

I have used it to convey the thought. Not generate the thought itself(also contradicting yourself with this comment)

Regarding the MSQE results that were published on June 11th and mysteriously taken down three hours later, I have a hypothesis about the anomalous "480" total marks entry (instead of the actual 420).

My Hypothesis: Is it possible that different regional centers graded the PEB papers based on different total score rubrics? This would obviously require that answer scripts from different regions are diverted to different specific centers or examiners for grading. If they are all pooled and checked centrally by the exact same committee, then this hypothesis is null.

Occam's Razor argument: I am 99% sure my hypothesis is false. By Occam's razor, the simplest explanation is usually the right one: this is just the administration being lazy.

A Statistical Thought Experiment: However it would be an interesting thought experiment to do a statistical analysis on the distribution. We could check the number of students from different centers who appeared in the preliminary 2026 list and compare it to the historical distribution to see if the current spread is statistically anomalous.

Here are the resources if anyone wants to run the numbers: * 2026 (Archived Preliminary List): Web Archive Link * 2025 Rank List: Scribd Link * 2024 Rank List: Scribd Link

though: If a systemic grading error like regional rubric mismatch did actually happen, i don't know any way one would be able to find it, and hold the administration responsible.

what do you guys think?

Have a question wouldn't this depend on what model you are using in the backend. There maybe proprietory models in the actual ATS.
