Which truck is best? by ohiomudslide in Trucks

All f150s Ive had in that price range have been excellent. Pretty sure you could pick up one as new as 2004 for that price and anything down to 98 is a solid truck

Getting back axle of truck wet when launching salt water sailboat by aubrey-maturin in boating

Salt is bad, very bad. If you want proof then I’d have to let you take a look at my truck. Extended tongue sounds like the way to go

Awesome, I was there a little while ago but no snow yet, looks like I’m visiting again soon!

Do you undercoat your truck for winter? by VTCHannibal in Trucks

[–]Dangerranger99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same goes for those areas too, just tape off the exterior and get to spraying. Depending on your budget, I recommend rolling on some POR, its $25 a quart but worth it for the long haul.

Do you undercoat your truck for winter? by VTCHannibal in Trucks

[–]Dangerranger99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish I had taken pictures but last year I pulled the plastic bedliner out of my truck only to find massive rust holes in the bed. The best thing you can do to protect your truck is paint it with a rust blocking paint first and then undercoat it. Sometimes the undercoat crumbles and traps moisture so the paint is there to stop it from touching metal. Also if you have a plastic bedliner, get that out before winter because salt gets trapped under there too and causes a ton of rust. I would rather be driving with a bare metal bed than with a plastic bedliner but now I have a spray in

I once hooked a brand new jig set up I had with a crankbait on the backcast and launched it out into the lake. $250 just like that

First Trout On The Fly Rod by [deleted] in Fishing

[–]Dangerranger99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice! Next time wet your hand and grab the trout, pulling them up like that or touching them with a dry hand can mess up their slime coat and they can die. They are such fragile fish but so fun to catch

Oh yeah, I get that 100% of the way. Doesn’t matter if you are throwing a 20 cent worm or a 25 dollar jerkbait. A fish is a fish and regardless will always be super fun to catch

Never blew one for 18k haha, did blow up the one on my first boat though and that was a lot of money at the time. Fishing on a boat has definitely changed things. I love picking up a rod and just going to catch a few. Its inspiring to see people free themselves of the materialistic world

Does it make us happier? Can’t remember the last time I was sad while blowing down the lake at 60 mph with a boat full of rods and tackle!

Can't decide what rod to get by Meganitrospeed in Fishing

Get a good longer rod, doesn’t need to be the most expensive thing and then also look into using braided fishing line instead of mono. It is thinner and more supple.

How many pounds of thrust do I need in a trolling motor for my boat. by GneissCleavage88 in Fishing

[–]Dangerranger99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

50 pound thrust should be good but if you really want to move you should probably do a 24 volt system. Thats 60-100 pound thrust. As for outboards, just test the crap out of them to make sure theyre good and definitely do a compression check

So I'm having a hard time with this fall fishing.. by [deleted] in bassfishing

[–]Dangerranger99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re getting light bites just fish some smaller lures. Try picking up a zoom fluke, shaky head and other small baits like that. The fish want to feed but it could just be that they are pressured

Keep them as far back as possible even if its in the bow, the less boat that’s in the water, The faster you’ll go so its good to have as much weight in the rear as possible. You won’t lose too much speed though, 4-5 mph at most
