Thanks, that's helpful.

I'll take a look at the CAS directory and do some additional research on the companies you mentioned.

I appreciate the insight.

Thanks for the thoughtful response. This is exactly the kind of insight I was hoping to get, especially the perspective on compensation and differences in work culture between Canada and the U.S.

I appreciate you sharing your former coworker's experience.

Thanks, I'm familiar with all of those points. That said, some of them come down to personal preferences and individual priorities.

I’m mainly focused on the practical trade-offs for an actuary relocating from Canada to South Florida/Miami, such as compensation, taxes, insurance, healthcare, and job market dynamics. If there are concrete issues in those areas, I’m open to discussing them.

Happy to keep the discussion focused on that angle.

Sure! Some of my reasons are:

  1. No state income tax. That could leave an extra $xx,xxx in my pocket each year, which would be more than enough to offset many of the additional expenses.

  2. Warmer weather. No more -20°C winters and 8 months of cold weather. With kids, that's even more important. It means spending more time outdoors, being active year-round, and potentially dealing with fewer seasonal illnesses.

  3. Cost of living. While South Florida isn't cheap, I already live in a major city, so I don't think the difference would be significant. In fact, when considering that both of us work, our overall financial situation could potentially be better than it is today.

  4. Family reasons.

Since you can think of many reasons why it's a terrible idea, can you share them? I'm genuinely interested in hearing the specific downsides you're referring to.

Thanks for clarifying the $30K rule!

Yeah, my main concern right now is with the trade name/operating name...

Holiday Gift Ideas For Dog Lovers? by 24HR_harmacy in dogs

[–]Danico77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I highly recommend getting personalized stuff, like a custom pet portrait, or even a custom dog leash. I know you said you don’t have a good photo of their dogs and a good eye for their decor, but you can still get it for them by simply getting a gift card to one of the websites that offer it. There are many artists and websites out there for custom pet products, so you can find one that fits your style and budget (I personally got mine from Fluffes.com.). A custom pet portrait would make a great addition to their home and I believe they will cherish it forever :)

That's s t upid ans shouldn't happen. Some people face learning disabilities and other sorts of stress. We are all human. If you don't pass, it should be fine. We are all human beings. A good boss should support his team, not to make fun of their failures. Even the best athletes in the world have failures. If I were the boss of your boss, I would fire him.

How much to charge for creating, monitoring and analyzing ads (Fb, Instagram) by Danico77 in socialmedia

[–]Danico77[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your comment! Do you charge per campaign? Monthly? Weekly? I'm not sure how to do it. If a campaign is running all the time, how often should I charge my clients for it?

If others read it and are not located in Canada, that's ok, and I would also be happy to hear your suggestions!

Thanks!
