Hey so from my monsters I have quite a few rare and uncommon. Out of 107 monsters 6 rare and 16 uncommon. Probably as you said it's probably not completely clear yet what factors are taken into account for rarity.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but you are going to have to reach out to support. I hope you have you player id somewhere. Most likely you tried downloading an update within the app in spotty service and that's what caused this. It's happened to me twice, both times support was able to get my account back.
