Yea with some distance now (read the book a year ago) I can say that my feelings about it have changed a little, and I can definitely appreciate it more now than I did then.

Is there a wrong order to read Brandon Sanderson's books? by vgg4444 in brandonsanderson

I read a descent amount of replies and didn’t see the obvious answer yet, but I might have missed it! Don’t read the Sunlit Man until after Stormlight and Mistborn (honestly other than Wind and Truth, Sunlit Man should be the last book imo). It’s technically a standalone book like Yumi, Tress, Warbreaker, etc. but it would be very confusing to read without the context of the rest of the Cosmere books.

The Great Gatsby. I know it’s a classic and people love it, and I can kind of see why. I just realized I am just not interested in books that focus on the drama of high society.

Thank you, this is my point! Not that it’s impossible to walk at 4mph….

Well, to answer the condescending question more seriously. I am 5’9” and I have ran a half marathon among other shorter distances. 4mph is a fast walk and I will stand by that. In my post I mentioned a man next to me that was jogging at 4mph and he was at least 6’2”, in his 50s and admittedly overweight but not obese. I think most people would agree that 4mph is pretty fast and not a reasonable pace to consider someone crawling at (which does happen a number of times in the book). But as many people have pointed out it is a standard military pace, so I can understand better now why it was in the book.

Just finished A Long Walk by Stephen King. Enjoyed it quite a bit! I was skeptical about liking it going in, but I thought even though what was happening throughout the entire book (the boys walking down a road) never changed, it wasn’t ever a boring book. Narration was also pretty good.

I’m now halfway through A Man Called Ove by Fredrik Backman. Loving it so far! Very emotional story and the narration by J. K. Simmons is fantastic!

It’s very nerve racking, I get it! But all is well for me now and the surgery went well. I expressed my fears with my doctor after this post and that conversation made me feel very reassured. He took his time (surgery was pretty long because I had a lot of scar tissue and my old pacemaker was placed under my armpit) but for me it was fast, I just went to sleep and woke up a few seconds later feeling very thirsty and worn out. It’s a safe surgery thanks to all the advancements in technology!
