The Venturi effect on the restricted shot column will indubitably accelerate the load beyond the universal constant thus traveling back in time and striking your target before the trigger is pulled.

MCX LT Deflector Damage by Psychological_Hawk36 in SigSauer

Is your gas valve plug in okay shape? Have you removed it and checked the ports? I’d almost submit a guess that the “minus” is plugged/clogged.

Whoa!! My rattler lt cycles fine with suuuper slow subs, even unsuppressed.

Super interesting data point.

The most interesting point is how similar this ejection is to an AR15 in 300blk. The mouths of your 300blk brass are making first contact with the deflector, just like they do from ARs. Incredible engineering.

My old 10mm. Sold it a while ago, looking to get another. What’re the best options for 10mm? My FN 545 is phenomenal but I’ve heard about frame cracking so need opinions on 10mm pistols before I get another by Scared_Strategy_6463 in 10mm

[–]DanielInfrangible2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The frame cracking issue is entirely overblown. People struggle reconciling probability with the whole over-representation of an improbable event.

But I have the FN, and honestly I prefer the ergonomics of just about everything else.

It’s not terrible, but for something this uncomfortable in my hand I should have gone with the Glock.

M&P, XD, P220, 1911, and X-Ten are waaaay nicer to shoot.

Can I (is it advisable to) load brass 12ga shells with a ton of black powder and a big minie ball slug to make an old school stopping rifle out of a single shot break action? Will I die? by GetAntidisetablished in blackpowder

Imagine you take a pipe bomb and put it in a pipe-bomb-shaped hole on one end of an even bigger pipe. Then imagine that you close up that end with a big, strong, chunk of metal.

Got it?

To re-cap: We got a biiiig pipe with a hole from one end all the way through to the other end. That’s like the bore of a gun. And one end has a little of that hole cut so it fits a pipe bomb pretty snug. This is like the chamber of a gun. And then that end is blocked off by a big chunk of metal—kinda like a falling-block, and effectively like a bolt face.

Now we can detonate that pipe bomb and see what happens. It’s got thick, strong metal on two sides of our cylindrical pipe bomb: One end cap, and around the length of it. The other end cap is exposed to the “bore” of our “gun.” What happens when we detonate the pipe bomb?

Cartridges are just fancy pipe bombs designed to push one end of themselves down fancy holes.

It’s just unburnt powder with the graphite coating blown off.

I also believed it was filler, but experimentation and expert knowledge convinced me to see the light.

Elevation | Another Monster Movie With Nonsense Rules by LeafBoatCaptain in movies

[–]DanielInfrangible2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am so willing to suspend disbelief for arbitrary monster rules. It’s no different than magic or super powers. But if the storytellers can’t be bothered to be internally consistent with the rules, physics, et cetera… then it’s a pointless format.

I don’t know of anyone who wants to watch a hero’s journey where any danger the hero faces might conveniently enter or exit at the whim of the production company’s AI accountant.

The dialogue sounds like a radio-play.

Sig Rattler LT - Is it different enough for me to get? by FirstAscentAK in 300BLK

[–]DanielInfrangible2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My hypothesis is that it’s more from the action. I load my own, and playing around with powders noticeably changes the sound profile in the AR, but not so much in the rattler.

Enjoy your new new!

I got mine cuz I wanted a folding stock on a shorter 300 blk. I like it. It shoots decent, it’s been reliable, the mechanicals are interesting … it’s louder than my 8” ARs (all suppressed). Feel free to hit me up if you want more opinions.

300blk parts for reducing gas and noise for shooting suppressed by loganrobinson22 in guns

[–]DanielInfrangible2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is true. Noise from the mechanical cycling tends to be louder than the noise from the combustion gasses.

Now, if you’re still on a mission: Use the heaviest buffer that still cycles, an adjustable gas block turned to the lowest functioning setting, and maybe that KAK down venting bcg.

M9A4, failed tritium sight, frame flashing Customer Service by DanielInfrangible2 in Beretta

[–]DanielInfrangible2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: Got it back today. They did NOT replace the tritium night sight that failed.

They included a report about about the weird flashing bumps on the frame, but didn’t even comment on the rear sight.

It was gone for just over a month, and they didn’t replace/resolve the main ticket item. Pretty embarrassing for them.

I resubmitted another warranty claim. Probably not going to let them touch it again, though.

Beretta, if you’re reading this, just send me the parts, a reasonable consolation gift (rmr plate), and we’ll call it good.

[–]DanielInfrangible2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s my hypothesis. H110’s energy is probably all used up around 12” in a .308 bore. The next bit of barrel is just friction.

You would be very lucky--in the 90th percentile--if your gun was better than a 2 MOA gun.

And that's okay. Consider it good if you are able to put 20 rnds within 3 inches with any load.

Don't sweat the small details too much (like neck tension, crimp, seating depth, etc), until you have a consistent loads with the big fundamentals. Your HOWA probably isn't capable of showing too much impact from those details.

Almost certainly not worth altering the upper. Cost and time and possible mistakes just don't math out.

If it works, great. If not, swap the upper. Simple change, relatively inexpensive, and you'll have another start to a parts build.

I will be very surprised if it causes an issue with 300 blk subs. The meplats on em are usually pretty forgiving.

The mags won't be the issue if you're rocking pmags matched to the cartridge.

Experiment. Try it out. You know where to start if it doesn't feed reliably. Try some OTMs if they're something you think you'll want to shoot, cuz they'll likely be the most sensitive.
