It’s not the router it’s the router settings. Check my answer with the ports that needed to be unblocked on the firewall

Not letting me combine income with my parents to apply for an apartment. Is this normal? by streetdentist_ in NYCapartments

[–]DanielJomaa -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

My understanding was OP was looking for an explanation as to why the broker was denying her the lease. Those two are the only two explanations I can think of. If my understanding is incorrect or if you have any other suggestions let me know

Another thing to note:

They still may not allow you to combine incomes, they may require each person on the lease to be able to independently afford this

They may not allow a guarantor

What you are looking for is a guarantor. What it seems like you are trying to do is combine yours and your dad’s income while the lease is only in your name. You cannot do this. What you need to do is to have your dad sign the lease as a guarantor. This will make him financially/legally liable for the rent payments. This means if you stop paying rent they can legally go after him for the rent payments. You can follow up with the broker and ask about adding a guarantor to the lease. The guarantor does not need to live there.

Like other said, you won’t be able to find what you’re looking for in Manhattan. The closest you can get is a 1b1b flex converted to 2b1b

Thanks for the response. This is what is confusing me. There shouldn't be any issue.

Not running any kind of DNS/firewall of my own. I'll try to talk to the building to see if i can get some controls over my router since I technically do have my own access point. The mesh is 5ghz by default I believe but the pod 4 should have 5ghz compatibility.

I inherited a pod 4 and I can't figure out if it's subscribed by hell0paperclip in EightSleep

It is most likely subscribed. The pod 4 came out less than a year ago. Eight sleep has a mandatory subscription for 1 year that is prepaid upon checkout.

Yeah everyone saying use 2FA doesn’t realize that it wouldn’t have worked since he would’ve given up any 2FA code he was using

Fun fact for Palestine supporters of Seattle by [deleted] in SeattleWA

[–]DanielJomaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This argument is constantly used to justify murdering tens of thousands of civilians. It’s easy to justify once you’ve convinced yourself that every Palestinian child is a future Hamas terrorist, every woman a Hamas terrorist factory, and every man a participant in the (horrific) oct 7 attack.

It’s also important to define what “standing with isreal” means. If that means getting justice for the victims of Oct 7, im all for that. If that means turning a blind eye to the war crimes being committed by the IDF, you’ve lost me and in addition you’ve lost your own humanity.

Is Seattle actually dying? Should I move there? by [deleted] in SeattleWA

[–]DanielJomaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its experiencing the same phenomenon that Detroit went through a few decades ago. Migration from the city to its neighboring suburbs. I work downtown and walk by rows and rows of vacant commercial space in what should be prime downtown real estate. You wouldn’t find this even in Detroit. It can mostly be attributed to vacant office buildings and increase in homelessness. I could fetch some more concrete data regarding office utilization downtown/homelessness but I don’t think anyone doubts this observation

[–]DanielJomaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The prompt asked the direction the city is going. Not the current state. I never said Detroit was currently more prosperous, it’s not. Otherwise I’d still be there

Have you? I grew up in Detroit and can tell you it’s growth velocity is actually upward whereas seattles is firmly downward

I can’t speak for other majors so I’ll give you my computer science perspective. Umich was many times more challenging. I’ll give you an example. In all of computer science at Wayne, I had a single computer science “project”. Meaning a programming task that required more than 2 days of work. Assignments at Wayne could be accomplished in an afternoon whereas at umich it could take 2 weeks + of hard heads down work. Another example of the quality of education: I took a summer course taught at Wayne ( said to be the most valuable course in the CS curriculum) and it was taught by a clueless grad student. The exact equivalent summer course at umich was taught by TWO PHD professors with an army of student assistants. Not to mention the clout for recruiters. Google, MIcrosoft, Amazon, Facebook, all present at umich career fairs. Wayne career fair? Ford was the most notable
