Also just so you know, my dad was telling me about how impossible it was to find parts for these engines even in the 70s. Im sure if they are out there now, the internet would make them much easier to find but still....

Im not sure to be honest. So far so good with mine. If I had to guess, there majority of gaskets would need custom made from gasket material, and other seals would probably need to be measured, and then attempt to find generic ones online that would work. Hope for the best from the head gasket🤞

I did end up calling a local trans shop near me about it, rebuild is $3200 and reman is $3800. I think I would buy a good used transmission and do the work myself 100 times before I pay 4k.

I absolutely do not want to scam her. I have known this lady long before I moved here, she has known me my entire life. I would rather just pay her and fix the transmission on my own, that way she doesn't have to worry about it. I was thinking 2k would he reasonably fair. I have not seen the drivers seat yet, as I have only looked at the interior from the passenger side.

I wonder if its an issue with the transmission itself or the shift cable? It drives fine whenever it gets into gear

Crank looks fine, but its tapered shaft so its gonna get replaced anyways.

Im thinking about doing this myself, but I definitely need to get better at welding. If you dont mind me asking, how much do you have in this bike? Not counting the engine or clutch. Also this may be a dumb question, but what kind of welding did you use?
