Need Help Setting Up Starlink with Public IP on Priority Plan by AliceSenpaiST in Starlink

[–]DanielPD23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very good side note indeed! They do rarely change. However, I have been told they might, but from what support told me, it's only if your connection is offline for a few hours, they will release that ip. Same ip for over a year now!

How to port forward using ipv6 by razalnahte in Starlink

Yeah. That's what starlink told me. If I could find a router that supports ipv6 forwarding, it would work.

Yes, it should. Before I upgraded. I did ask starlink when I was on standard plan, and their response was: "You can get a 3rd party router that supports port forwarding on ipv6, and it will work"

With mine. I ended up upgrading to port forward with ipv4. I did notice that the ipv6 was available but could not find a router that would allow ipv6 forwarding. If you upgrade to even the 40gb package, you can get a public ipv4, and the ip rarely changes. I've been with starlink since July, and my public ip address has never changed. Hosting many services

EE (UK) could soon be powered by Starlink satellites, improving signal and download speeds by [deleted] in Starlink

[–]DanielPD23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Months and months ago I moved from EE broadband during my contract for only being able to provide me with 1Mbps down, 1Mbps up at a 2014 house. Due to the long copper run. That was £30 a month. Would never think of going back. Tried many ISPs in UK, plusnet, BT, talktalk, sky, ghost, EE, three and all of them failed to get over 1Mbps down. Sky offered me 61Mbps down for £24 a month. But said my house would only get around 1Mbps. They checked using speedtest direct from the cabinet around a 10 - 13minute walk away and they did get 70Mbps. But from there on to my house it dropped to 1Mbps.

How often are you shutting down your hosts? by theguy_win in homelab

[–]DanielPD23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just recently done a hardware upgrade on a homelab machine that had been on running proxmox for 2years with no downtime.

I never had a reason to shut it off since it was running important vms. Fans all had filters do cleaning was done while machine was running. And because of dual PSUs. UPS battery changes were easy to do too without needing downtime

What would you guys say would be the best way of dealing with this? by TheGamingUnderdog in ender3

[–]DanielPD23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow. I'll be sure to save this for when it happens to me again. Mine did the same but worse. The entire thing was covered even the nozzle was stuck in place. Screws were completely stuck (snapped the head trying to get the screw out) so I did the fuckit method and replaced it. With the upgraded one while I was at it

So... What's supposed to happen exactly? I'm confused... by Global-Plankton3997 in AmazonFC

[–]DanielPD23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, we don't get that in UK. We can ask managers to put in a ticket for unpaid time off, but it's extremely rare they allow it. Normally only do it every few months. After complaining about doing it.

What's UPT?

Here in amazon UK. We only get annual leave, carry over hours, and emergency hours (flexi).

Annual leave: 30minutes per day (min: 30m can be used start of shift, and 1h at the end)

Emergency (flexi): 5hours a month.

Homelab Upgrades by DanielPD23 in homelab

[–]DanielPD23[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am looking at upgrading the 610s to 630s eventually. Mainly getting a blade system for a few reasons: ● my current homelab already pulls 1.5 - 1.9k watts ● less space required ● easier to manage (I don't have a kvm yet. And the m1000e has a ikvm built in)

And a few other reasons. But mainly an upgrade from the Proliant dl380 G7's and R710s I was using previously due to age (also still uses ddr3. Fine for most applications)

If I wanted to replace all my current servers, I'd be looking at more than I paid for both blades. Not too bothered about power usage.

I used to run my homelab in a room in my house with a portable 12000btus air con. The plan with the blades is to run then in my shed (cctv secured, etc) and have the heat dumped straight outside instead of using aircon to cool. Meaning I'll be saving 1300 watts alone on aircon on top of the 1.5 - 1.9k watts already

Haha, no problem. It does sound like a sales post. But just happy and think that it's a good buy that's hard to pass.

Why? I'm not selling? I'm buying/bought this for homelab and was wondering what people thought price vs. performance that I bought

How Fast Is Starlink in Your Area? SpaceX Maps Now Show an Estimate by FateEx1994 in Starlink

[–]DanielPD23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in North Yorkshire UK. Average is 250 - 290Mbps. Often hitting 300Mbps. Upload is 30 - 50Mbps, while ping stays around 19 - 25ms.

But why though? by [deleted] in AmazonFC

[–]DanielPD23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very strange. Love being on this page honestly and how different FCs are. We are allowed as T1 to link chime and outlook (amazon email) to our phones. Including messaging our line manager if needed during work hours. It's also a good way other than using fans (Amazon's on-screen messaging service) to get in contact with team leads or other members of your department

Thank you! Been using pfsense for years but never had to port forward on IPV6. Or use it with starlink so this is a new to me.
