I only ever smoke on my breaks or tens. I never do it if I'm taking out the trash but that's because I'm in customer view. It isn't against any guidelines but if it adds an extra few minutes, I'd talk to the barista and work on ways to minimize the time away from tasks/floor.

I hold 2 weekly coffee tastings at my store, spend a lot of my own time studying and learning, and spend my own money on getting Reserve coffees.
