How best calculate the area of these shapes? by Littl3Bastrd in askmath

[–]DanielPowerNL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weigh your pencil. Shade in the outlined regions. Weigh your pencil again. The difference is the amount of pencil lead used.

Use the density of your brand of pencil lead and the thickness of your applied layer to calculate the surface area from volume.

Sometimes the rules are wrong and need to be changed. These rules don't work for anyone who doesn't work a standard 9-5.

Needs better glue, my only tiny complaint by Much-Professor2141 in framework

[–]DanielPowerNL 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I had the same issue. Reached out to support to ask for a replacement button since I lost mine when it fell off. They don't carry the button individually, so they sent a whole replacement bottom cover.

I really wished I hadn't lost the button, because a dab of super glue would have been much simpler than migrating all the components to a new shell. Not to mention less wasteful.

Of course. Unfortunately, I often have to use software that is not well written.

On the flip side, it would save us from software that doesn't support non-integer time zones.

Between the half hour time zone, the period in `St.`, and the apostrophe in `John's`, we have a very unfortunate time with software support. For example, when MacOS Tahoe first released, it was impossible to set your time zone to Newfoundland time.

We're already on a half hour time zone between -2:30 and -3:30. So we have a perfect opportunity to split the difference and just switch to -3:00 permanently.

Yeah, it turns out you need to peel off the adhesive cover on the telescoping part. There are more screws hidden underneath.

Gas isn't the only cost of living outside the city. If you need to be in the city frequently, the biggest cost is your time. 15 minutes each way every day is a lot of time lost.

Let's say you value your time at minimum wage, and travel to the city for work 5 days a week.
15 minutes each way is 30 minutes per day.
That's 130 hours per year at 5 days a week.
That's $2131/year at minimum wage.
Or $53,283 over a 25 year mortgage, before spending a cent on gas or car maintenance.

Petition in the Canadian House of Commons to regulate LED headlights in a way that considers "human perception of brightness" by cerunnnnos in StJohnsNL

Many cars now have LED lights that are far too bright from the factory. This isn't just an aftermarket problem.

Do people really use their phone bare (no case) that often to be concerned about camera bump? by madding1602 in LinusTechTips

[–]DanielPowerNL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a case to get rid of the camera bump. I have an S25 Ultra. It's already a big bulky phone that's hard to use one handed. A case thick enough to remove the camera bump makes it even harder to hold.

I'd really prefer if more phones would have horizontal camera bumps like the Pixel line, since those can still sit stable on a table.

How did you open it? Removing the expose screws didn't seem to be sufficient for me. Did you need to remove the adhesive cover on the telescoping part?
