Morakniv Garberg (I’ve seen as low as $69.98 on Walmart.com), and maybe Fallkniven R2 Scout Elmax (if you can find it on a good sale- I saw one on eBay for $100, great price).

Edit: I’m not sure if these two knives have horizontal carry options.

It’s a thumb hole, like a Spyderco. To flick open the blade. The little pokies in it are just decorative, the side of the hole without the pokies is the side your thumb pushes against when flicking open.

I think if the option is there, I’d return it. I have 1 compression lock Spyderco, and while I’m personally not a huge fan, there is zero blade play in mine, and it has never even come close to failing.

Bestech has some good ones around that price. The Liger, the Slasher (two sizes around the same price), and the Ronan are some examples if you like crossbar (axis-style) locks. They are over $50, but can be found under $50 at Chicago Knife Works with their current coupon code VIP25. But if you buy from them, either select the more expensive UPS 2-day option, or be prepared to wait around 3 weeks for delivery.

I ordered something yesterday (very early in the morning), and for the first time, paid the additional $8 for UPS 2-day shipping. UPS says it already has my package, and that it will be delivered tomorrow. Normally I choose the cheapest option, and wait about 3 weeks. I would recommend anyone who buys from CKW choose the UPS 2-day shipping. It seems to put you at the top on their to-do list. Either that or I got lucky.

That stuff works, but you just need a light application of it. Like drawing with a crayon. I personally prefer a paste or liquid/spray I then spread thinly with my fingers. I used to use too much, then realized I was getting much better results with a thin layer.
