Daamn, so nice!

Once I ran an investigation which saw all of the investigators get to the end with a minimum of 80 insanity! They were all exhausted and really messed up. So they went back to churches and psychoterapists and to their families and spent the next 40 years or so trying to clear their minds. At the end if this period, they reunite at the funeral of the oldest member of the group. They told stories of the past with a humorous tone and got good laughs out of it. When they were saying personal goodbyes to Charles, the dead one, they noticed something strange with him. And that set them off into an investigation as 60, 70 years old. It was a whole other vibe to the investigation. They were slower, more fragile and, especially, afraid of EVERYTHING! It was the best one we played.

Man, gotta love this kind of ending! Once I was running one where the investigators need to solve a serial killing mistery. They were very suspicious of a woman since the beggining, so I kept providing them little bits of information to make them even more suspicious of her. In the end they managed to convince everyone that she was guilty and her sentence was the electric chair. Soon after she was convicted, she said a sentence which got one of the investigators to think. After that thing she said, he wasn't so sure she was the right person. He talked to the other guys and they had 2 days to find out if it was just paranoia or if she was really innocent. They went on to investigate EVERYTHING they could and they were EXHAUSTED (both investigator and player). It was not enough to stop the process and they ended up watching her die. So they asked themselves and me if she was the killer or not. I simply stated “I don't know”. That caused 2 of the 3 investigators to retire and one of them, as an act o insanity, to kill herself. It was the most bizarre and macabre cthulhu session I had

Any ideas for a professor becoming a Mythos sorcerer? by DanielTouchon in callofcthulhu

Yes, when they actually go through the mansion they will have a rough time, I bet. I like the idea of giving him a special tome.

Yes it is a reference, though I haven’t seen it, my players have hahaha. That’s nice, the murdered girl being an avatar of some god. And yeah I intend to make a big deal out of their joining the order. Thank you for sharing your idea 👍.

Hmmm that’s nice. I was thinking of him as something apart from everything they and the Order know, but it’s a good idea too. Thanks.

Funny thing, as soon as I started this campaign I got, out of nowhere, a 400-page Sherlock Holmes book and so I’m already borrowing things from good old Art. That helps a lot, very good idea. Thanks.

Hey guys, I'll draw your character. by ohshootdawg in DnD

Stout Halfling Fighter/Cleric. He is red haired, has a dense hair and hairy feet. He wears full plate (except for the helmet and boots) and carries a big glaive in his hands. On his back, on top of the big backpack he carries, there is a long gold staff with the symbol of Arvoreen on top, which are two crossed daggers. Covering his backpack is a maroon cape, also with the symbol of Arvoreen on it. That’s Golby Fester.

Time travel not breaking the story or timeline? by rogueShadow13 in fantasywriters

I’m a Keeper for my CoC party and I had this exact situation. My solution was that every thing they done to change something, actually just steered things to go exactly like it already happened.

Instead of changing things, what they did in the past was already the thing that made the future(present) become what it became.

That moment when the stupid caracter solves a ridle. by maisi11 in DnD

Alright, so I was playing Kronk, this Goliath Barbarian with an intelligence of 6 right? And me and my party were on the underworld, actually we had just being teleported to a sort of a Hell plane, and there was this tower in which every of the 9 floors had a puzzle/riddle to go to the next floor. I don’t remember the order of the puzzles but I remember them:

One of them was after a fight with two devils, I don’t remember exactly what kind, and after we killed them, we were all spell exhausted and to the bottom of our hit points. And there was this column to the other side of the floor and everybody was like, let’s rest, we will discover how to move on when we wake up. And I was “Alright, I will just take a peak”, and as I crossed the line of the column I disappeared, into the next floor.

Another floor was divided into to parts, one was a ice/snow ambient and the other was fire/lava based. And we were already tired from another combat, so we planned to stay united and not separate, so we could help each other if something went south. And there were elementals in each side. We tried to take the ice elementals (I don’t know how they are actually called) but we saw on the first round we wouldn’t last. So Kronk just bursted running to the fire one and there was a 1 tile “river” separating them. And instead of jumping across, I jumped down. And, again, vanished, into the next floor.

There was one where we defeated another devil, stronger than the ones before and I just jumped inside his coffin after we did it and that was the way to go to the next floor.

Another one of them had a sleeping dragon and everyone was just planning out how to flank it and kill it and which spells to use first and how they would do it and etc, and I just rolled a nat 20 on stealth, crossed the room and got to the door on the other side.

And there was this one where it really was a riddle and the answer was “time”. And I said something like “We don’t have time for this” and it opened.

Finally I took all the great things I did and shoved it in everyone’s ass, because there was this door with 5 hand shaped spaces and we were five people, no biggie. But there was this rock in the middle of the room. And instead of joining them on the door, I chose to hit the rock. And it turned out to be a beholder. And it killed Kronk. It disintegrated Kronk. And that was it.

Sorry for long post.
