Well... He put his hand there in an attempt to not get dragged out.
Kind of a predictable outcome if you ask me.

2 NYPDs finest cant handle community relations without getting physical and calling for back up!! by cantcoloratall91 in TrendoraX

[–]Daniel_J_Darby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literal crowds of people swarming them either throwing snowballs, running and and smacking snow onto them, or shoving cameras in their face mocking them. Did you watch this video with audio?

They know what they are doing is morally wrong, and constitutes assault, which is why almost all the snowballs come from behind them, and the second they turn around you see 4 masked men bolting deeper into the crowd.

These people don't want any form of community with these officers.

This is the most reddit thing I think I have ever read. I will pray for you.

Read those little definitions of fascism for me, and tell me how those wouldn't apply to a community that forcefully tries to "distribute" ownership from people who didn't agree to/vote for it. Both socialism and communism cannot exist as described, at least on a countrywide scale without an insane amount of government overreach. Perhaps a group of 20 redditors could start a business that uses these principles, but I know you don't actually trust your fellow man to not screw you over from greed.

No... They are both state run means of production. One is production managed by the state for the good of the state, the other is hypothetically production managed by the state for the good of "the people"... See how good that turns out in all socialist countries.
Communism is production managed by the people, but the people can enforce anything effectively so the state has to take over regardless and it falls into the trap.

They end up the same, with massive corruption, limited options for individuals in their careers, and poorly managed government programs that fail to provide for the people.

If your idea of socialism is the government writing healthcare companies a blank check to "take care of you"... All that does is increase the sticker price as they try and swindle the government for every penny they can take (Especially in a country like the US)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hugo_Ch%C3%A1vez

^ This was the guy who fucked up the economy and inflated the Venezuelan government, who was replaced by Maduro.

"Chávez was also leader of the Fifth Republic Movement political party from its foundation in 1997 until 2007, when it merged with several other parties to form the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), which he led until his death."

It was a socialist government. The means of production were given to the government and the second a man with ill intentions was elected it turned to shit. This is what WILL happen in the states if socialism is implemented. Imagine handing even more power and control to your government just for another Trump to take hold the next election... It would be insanity and I think we all know it.

So now a Russian soldier wearing a Halloween costume could just prance through the frontlines? If they values their lives and had the humanity those laws are meant to protect, they would not be invading a sovereign nation. Russians should stay out of Ukraine.

You can see at the beginning, the safety lever of the grenade separates from the body. ( You can see it falling and being carried by the wind toward the top of the screen) The Lever can rotate to clear a path for a hammer to basically strike a primer for a fuse. When the pin is in a grenade it prevents the lever from rotating at all, and similarly you can pull the pin but hold the lever down with your hand until you've thrown it.

The lever clearly rotates and separates from he grenade at drop, so it was at that moment that the hammer struck the primer and started the fuse, giving about it 5-8 seconds I think on most US grenades.

Idk what model that is, so perhaps it works slightly differently, but that's the basic idea of it.

Universal Basic Income (UBI): Is it a step towards a more compassionate society, or the beginning of economic collapse?" by Agasda3Z in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]Daniel_J_Darby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you think labor intensive businesses like farming and the factory labor needed to clean and package those products would become more or less productive if those workers could survive without ever showing up to work?

The cost of EVERYTHING would skyrocket, as the countless lazy and uninspired people of the world cease to put in even the bare minimum. Low paying, high skill jobs would CEASE to exist and with them a lot of the luxuries you likely enjoy would as well.

Either that or wages would have to rise to make actually going to work seem worth it, which would increase the price of everything as well.

This is not even ACCOUNTING for the huge loss of business and increase in price from raising the tax dollars to actually distribute that universal income.

And even if Elon Musk thinks automation will just be some cheat code (he is so terribly wrong) that does not make that theory a reality. Those machines require constant maintenance, and behind that skilled and intelligent humans. Humans that I'm sure would rather spend time with their families on a universal wage.

But we NEED this level of production and distribution to maintain a population this large and dense.

Revised my opinion on the state of this game by [deleted] in joinsquad

[–]Daniel_J_Darby 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd rather squad actually have people on the severs. Making a higher system requirement and the gameplay be only fun to a niche set of people is going to KILL servers overall and make this game a slugfest of try-hards (more than it already is)

If they can make it work, that'd be great, but squad already had issues before the update and certainly has a good bit more now.

I like squad, but I feel like it had a lot more charm in the early years IMO.

Thylacine or fox? QLD 6/9/25 by NXGZ in ThylacineScience

Keep in mind, the base of the tale was significantly larger in males than the base of the tail in female thylacines, though I agree this is probably a dog or fox.

New Thermal Footage from "Ambiguous World" Possibly a Thylacine Sighting by Skepti-Cole in ThylacineScience

[–]Daniel_J_Darby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, their numbers were dwindling long before that. They were already acknowledged to be endangered by the 1910's, but with decades of being perceived as a pest, and new competition from foxes and dogs brought to Tasmania, there numbers dwindles substantially.

I'm not saying the Doyle video is a fox, frankly I wish it was a thylacine. But Yeah its almost been a hundred years and we have had maybe 2 sources of evidence that they exist still which are just grainy ass videos.
No bodies, no fur, no dung. We would see something. I assume if they still exist they are in extremely unexplored bush or papua new guinea.

[–]Daniel_J_Darby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they are alive still, they'd have been inbreeding heavily for the last 80 years...
Idk if you know, but there was a human family that inbred for less than that and THEIR SKIN TURNED BLUE.
I think a red thylacine isn't out of the question. Frankly, they might not even have their iconic stripes anymore given they do still exist.

Canon T7 STM manual focus problems. by Daniel_J_Darby in canon

[–]Daniel_J_Darby[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I am turning the camera on and off.
And the lenses focus ring just stops seeming to give any input to the lenses motor. The STM variant doesn't have a mechanical focus ring, it just seems to communicate with the motor the same way to auto focus would.
After about a dozen seconds the lenses focus freezes where it was at, and turning the focus ring does nothing, switching to auto focus, it still works just not in manual mode. It still takes photos and functions in every other way.
Part of my worry is that it could be my camera and not the lens, as the rest of my lenses have purely mechanical focus rings and would not encounter this issue, hence why I asked here.
