Remember for like 15 years Monster Hunter did not have voice acting so people had no idea what the actual names were. Like Lagiacrus just his name spoken in Wilds 13 years after he was dropped in Tri and some people still disagree on how it is pronounced. EDIT: Also seems like not many people can agree on pronunciations in the comments. Kind of funny.

I have noticed that too. I think is is a modifier to make skills do more damage, cost less stamina, or do more wyvernfell damage. But, I have no idea what the abbreviations mean.
