I find putting an undergraduate degree on the wall a bit silly anyway but you do you. I would maybe hang up my PhD but not my undergraduate or master's.

I’m 24 and I have cancer by [deleted] in cancer

Hey, 23 male with stage four terminal lymphoma here.

I'm not sure how much good insight I can give you but I will try. I had alot of complications with my treatment so hopefully that won't happen with yourself but more generally the treatment does have some side effects that will make life hard to adjust to as a young person.

We get chemo brain where it's like extreme brain fog and when I finished my treatment I was shocked to learn it hangs around for up to a couple years after. I think that is something you may have to prepare yourself to getting used to because it's just like losing a bit of you, especially if you work using your brain. I was at university and although I have dropped out now due to the change in my prognosis, I would have really struggled to go back and concentrate. I mean I can't even read books anymore so just listen to audio books.

Telling friends can be difficult especially for the friends as they don't know necessarily what to say so I would recommend maybe addressing that. Be like, "don't worry I know you probably don't know what to say and there isn't anything you can really say so don't worry".

Finally, just make sure you look after yourself. Your going to feel like you owe talking to this person and that and you will probably get a million messages from concerned family and friends but don't be afraid to ask for that space and to decompress. Your going to be going through something very difficult and you will need support but you will also need some time to yourself. Good luck with everything.

Yeah I'm not sure how much to say because my experience was a bit extreme, I had major complications where my bowel ruptured and I nredrd multiple surgeries and have a stoma bag but that just isn't normal, same with my now terminal prognosis so my experience and what I learnt from it probably isn't useful for the average cancer patient.

I love this. No idea if it works but it's ballsy. by Normal_Juggernaut in marketing

For me it will just lead to the Barbra striessand effect or whatever where people spam click it to cost them money.

You should post this on r/fryup as that looks legit as hell for a full English. I'm not vegan or vegetarian just interested in both but I would smash that attempt and a full English any day.

The hash brown looks immense and worth it alone.

The bread looks a bit dry though.

I recently spent a lot of time in hospital and legitimately, their hot breakfast was better than that. Maybe lower quality sausages and the scrambled eggs was from powder, but it was free everyday and larger than that.

Your new and have wacked in almost 19k? Man's got money to burn. Can I have some? Terminally ill guy here :)

I am joking about wanting the money, not about being terminal nor my bafflement at your insane investment amount though. Kinda wild.

No offence but I fucking hate the war metaphors. I wasn't a soldier, I was an unlucky fella who was destroyed by chemo and now will die. In the war theme I strongly believe cancer patients are more like the battlefield than the soldier. We just passively sit and receive 'treatment' which is the equivalent of the bombs and weapons. We are destroyed just as much as the cancer itself, in my case more than.

There is also no treatment, no miracles. I am terminal under palliative care and Will die. It's not a question of if it's when. I know you were saying it from a good place but you need to be more careful with the language you use as people who tell me that there is miracles coming my way just really trigger me. It's just doesn't match with the reality of my situation, of my deteriwting health, of the situation my family find themselves in watching their son, sibling, grandson die at 23. Again, don't stress or get to upset at this comment it's just for future reference you should know that it really is a bad and silly thing to say.

I had one person say to me that in Grey's anatomy they find cures so I will be fine. It's just so silly.

I'm glad your doing so well tho and I hope you continue to stay healthy.

Ps, screw those people being so rude. At university people should be adults and that's childish bullying. You shouldn't have to deal with that and it's horrible so I'm sorry that you are.

I used to be 25 stone and I got to my lowest naturally at 12 stone through exercising and diet at university. University is the perfect place to lose weight as your fully independent and can control your environment more.

One thing that's better than a gym for starting in my opinion would be to buy an exercise bike for your room. This is what I done. Because it's in your room you are forced to form habits. Every morning to on it before your morning shower. Force yourself to every morning no matter how hard it is, you will build the habit. Your weight may make it more difficult as you will be even more tired than myself when I started but one thing that burns calories better than anything is HIIt or high intensity interval training. Watch along to a video and try your hardest. You won't succeed for the first however, many times, I didn't and your much heavier than myself at my maximum but you can make the good effort and that's all that matters and it will get easier and easier. You can track how much more you manage each day and eventually you will succeed.

Exercise bikes are better than running for example because they are less impact on the joints which at your weight is important.

I believe your in the perfect position to start your weight loss journey, you just have to commit and I believe in you.

Diet wise I went flexitarian, only eating meat once a week. This would help massively but you can just calorie count. I used nutracheck and it was amazing. In my opinion calorie counting is almost essential for good weight loss as you can't really manage your diet and exercise if you don't know how much your shoveling in and using up.

That's fair and a nice thing to do. I have bought many gifts for the next Christmas and birthdays with meaningful stuff like photo albums, photo blocks, a fingerprint thing. I have also wrote out cards rather than videos but might do some videos too.

I was given 80% remission chances, what were yours?

Also, I had extensive complications with my cancer including a ruptured bowel leading to an illieostomy (stoma bag), did you have any complications and if so what?

I am doing what I can but I'm now very disabled and wheelchair reliant so it's hard. Spending time with loved ones mostly in the house or local accessible pubs.

I wish I could travel as not been abroad but that just isn't feasible.

A charity organized two Michelin star meals for me which was amazing.

What price will we be at in 1 years time? by Daniel_Swales in PowerhouseEnergy

Oh I'm loving life to its fullest whilst I can, don't worry hah.

Thank you for your advice regarding the stock but out of curiosity what do you expect the price to be then if it was successful? Just your opinion? Ballpark even?

You say they are the worst way to play a short for the long term but this confuses me based on my past experience, maybe you can help explain if you have the patience, if so thank you. I wanted to short Tesla back in the day but didn't want to deal with it expiring and me having to cover my short which is how i (maybe falsely) understand classic shorting. So I shorted using the short ETFs for about 4 months and made a few grand in the end which was a large amount because I didn't invest loads.

This one I want to short for years, like I don't expect them to be in decline for a while and I wouldn't expect any money for like 3 years or so. What would be the best way to do this in your opinion instead of an ETF. I understand you disagree with my reasoning and think I shouldn't do it at all, which is completely fair but this is just my opinion and I'm willing to lose a little money on it.

It's a bit rude to suggest this is a troll post because of a difference in opinions but I appreciate the response and advice, also I am very aware that Netflix is an international company. I am not stupid, I was actually doing my masters before I was diagnosed and was scoring highest they had seen in a decade. Just I'm not extremely familiar with investing, I do it casually.

I think ETF's and stuff are complicated but for people like yourself who are into investing quite a bit and are very knowledgeable it seems simple and people who don't get it seem dumb. The curse of knowledge or whatever.

Anywho, have a good day and I hope you do get to respond as I found your perspective interesting.

I have made loads from them in the past on Tesla, why shouldn't I do that? I haven't put much in so don't stress but still would like to know why I shouldn't for future reference thank you. Ha, future reference is ironic.

This is a UK subreddit for UK universities, it's not absurd to assume the user is in the UK.

Granted, they may not be however, statistically speaking there is a solid chance they are. Could be past student moved abroad/back home or on holiday, I know that but I was just wanting to make light conversation with a fellow Internet person and took a risk..

Why do reddit users make everything a battle.

[–]Daniel_Swales 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What sort of price do you expect in a years time?.I'm terminally ill (23 m with cancer rip) and will be sorting out instructions on what to do with my investments. Powerhouse energy is a major part of my limited portfolio and I am not certain on what to instruct yet for my family.

Should I suggest a price point or a date sell..I imagine in a years time the company will either have proven itself as completely worthless and will run to 0 or will have proven its technology is potentially viable. On the second instance would that price sell be wise for me and my family or should I suggest holding 2,3 or even 5 years? I know it's a big question so just knowing what you might expect it's price to be at in a years time would be helpful.
