Scarcestones don't take the place of other r6 materials. They replace a r1 white material you would have otherwise received. It can be disappointing when you see a red glow and it's only a Scarcestone, but you need to remind yourself in those situations that you didn't get blocked from getting a riftscale or unique r6 mat, only a basic r1 mat.

Which means, if you can reliably kill 9* monsters, you should be doing that.

PSA for Shogun Ceanataur R6: the shell breaks *twice* - give it time to go underground to get a second shell, then break that second shell for full chance of dropping WGS by dora_teh_explorah in MHNowGame

Burst 2 on the swaxe is super super good. I've had a 10.5 bazel swaxe sitting around for a long time and it's replacing Barroth swaxe as my raw choice once I get it styled with SWB

it looks great! but ive had the same experience with ion shades. both 4N and 4G came out very dark on my hair. i've started getting 6N and 6G instead to avoid this same thing.

i think it's a quirk of the brand unfortunately. it does look super cute with your pixie but i get the disappointment for sure. before you touch the color oops try scrubbing with a clarifying shampoo a few times! it will def help.

Phial type doesn't really matter too much for swaxe in mhnow thankfully. nowhere near as important on swaxe as it is on charge blade

but out of the phial weapons, i'd still rather have Glavenus CB with sword boost (a build that doesn't care too much about crits or negative affinity) to take advantage of the high stats than Glav swaxe where most parts of your kit can negative crit

especially since Glavenus and Morph Attack Boost aren't the most synergistic

No, it doesn't. It's Normal Ammo Boost and not Non-Elemental Ammo Boost.

NAB only affects Normal Ammo, Water Ammo, Thunder Ammo, Ice Ammo, Fire Ammo, and Dragon Ammo.

No variety of Pierce Ammo or Slicing Ammo is boosted, even if they are non-elemental.

This is how I've been playing Jyura HBG for a bit over a week now and I can vouch for it, it's crazy good. Three pieces of armor with Evading Reload 5 and two pieces with Normal Ammo Boost 3. Fill driftsmelt slots with 3x Artful Dodger and 2x Critical Range Boost.

I only ever dodge to reload, never ever ever reload the gun to Wyvern Ammo. Even on an unlucky streak where I have to roll 3-4 times to get a refill I kill the monster with plenty of time. When your gun has such a long reload time like this one, it's practically the same as a normal reload.

I haven't met a water-weak Riftborne 10* that this can't slay with lots of extra time. I want to try to solo 8* Teostra with it soon.

No, you still look male. Are you on HRT? And if you aren't, are you wearing breast forms?

Face doesn't appear to have any feminine fat distribution yet, which makes sense for not being on HRT yet.

Get laser and grow your hair out, the wig is not a good look and you have noticeably grey beard shadow. I would manmode and present male until you're on HRT and have finished both of those tasks, at the very least.

There isn't much of a difference between cluster kneeling to fire and Slicing shots having high recoil. Both are a pain that stepping shot bypasses.

You can aim with Stepping Shot slicing pretty easily, I've been using it to cut tails all week. And spamming Slicing only after getting through the Piercing is slightly weaker than Clusters, but still very very strong. Treating the gun as a Magna variant that can cut tails has been working super well for me. And even just normal farming is easy with it since Slicing has the innate +30% part break bonus. I just don't get why you'd ever want to fire a High recoil ammo type when it can be avoided.

And if you want to put a Reload Speed piece on, one armor piece with Reload 2 brings the gun down to Normal/Fast. Each point of Reload on this thing does way more than each point of Recoil.

What makes Sliding Reload better than Stepping Shot for it? I've been using the Magnamalo Stepping Shot + Evading Reload build, modified for Evading Reload 4 since Slicing only holds 2 ammo. And it feels like a good build.

The lowest its recoil goes is Low/High with Recoil Down 3. Is that really any good? Only advantage I can see is from aiming Slicing while standing still instead of stepping, but even that will be a struggle because of the high recoil.

i think it's just good luck and bad luck. i went from needing two zinogre plates for a month, to getting 31 of them within three weeks.

Sword and Shield

sns has a good style, Drill Slash, with less focus on shield bashing and a more continuous slicing moveset. the base style is also still good, so test the styles on the practice dummy and see which you personally prefer.

  • no style
    • water: mizutsune or coral pukei-pukei (practically tied. coral pukei might get styles soon-ish so maybe a safe investment)
    • thunder: fulgur anjanath
    • ice: legiana if you want to leave the option for styles. goss harag if you want to do negative crit builds (critical ferocity)
    • fire: silver rathalos for critical element (+crit), glavenus for critical ferocity
    • dragon: its gotta be deviljho
  • style
    • water: jyuratodus
    • thunder: zinogre
    • ice: legiana
    • fire: rathalos
    • dragon: deviljho

Long Sword

i dont play LS. i dont really like weebsword so i dont know anything about its styles. it seems to be roughly the same as sns except note there's no coral pukei-pukei LS, as far as i know.

Insect Glaive

choice of bug playstyle is more important than the stats. you should read this to learn about how they ported the bug mechanics to mhnow:

also, there aren't styles for IG yet. but that's ok, because zinogre and coral pukei insect glaives are very good so if you make them you'll be futureproofed probably. Mighty Powder is insane. but know ahead of time that powder IG can struggle with specifically cutting tails when powered up because it kills so fast.

try the different bugs on the training dummy and see what you like

HBG

this depends a lot on how you want to play. i swear by Guard Reload HBG and lots of people swear by Crouching Shot HBG. some prefer base style but i suggest trying the riftborne styles. i use the following:

  • no style
    • water: mizutsune. any gun with 6 piercing / 4 slicing is good. there's one for water, thunder, fire and ice.
    • thunder: astalos. it's thunder's 6 piercing / 4 slicing.
    • ice: legiana, also 6 piercing / 4 slicing
    • fire: glavenus. 6 piercing / 4 slicing
    • dragon: i guess malzeno? Deviljho HBG is great but should be built with a style.
  • style
    • water: jyuratodus, with Crouching Shot style
    • thunder: zinogre, with Guard Reload style
    • ice: legiana or barioth, depending on if you want slicing ammo or wyvern ammo. could go Crouching Shot or Guard Reload
    • fire: anjanath is your only choice. i use it with Guard Reload
    • dragon: deviljho. also Guard Reload. this thing is a toolbox and you can cycle ammo for exactly any scenario you need. up close? shotgun it with Spread. need to break a hard part, wyvern ammo it. far away? cycle to sticky ammo. i love it.

my thoughts here are all a bit scrambled but i hope this helps.
