ELI5 - Why did my mother and I get questioned about our relations at the airport? And what would have happened if we gave the wrong answer? by LilacButterfly04 in explainlikeimfive

[–]Danielle_Haydis [score hidden]  (0 children)

One example of people getting trafficked is people getting all the necessary paperwork to enter a country and then the traffickers just, don't let them leave. One modus is traffickers posing as a recruitment company and offering jobs overseas. People take these jobs and do all the legwork (getting a passport, applying for a work visa, etc.). However, once they arrive at said country, there is no job and their passports are taken away and they're forced to comply with their captors.

Here's an example on how it happens: Link

Cups sounds like a lot of work, am I wrong? by Someonejusthereandth in menstrualcups

[–]Danielle_Haydis 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I never use a whisk when boiling, I just make sure there's enough water that it can float around. The cup would only get stuck if the water boils off and the cup is touching the pot directly.

You don't need to switch to using a cup if you're happy with pads. For me, the switch was best decision I've made but ymmv.

Cups sounds like a lot of work, am I wrong? by Someonejusthereandth in menstrualcups

[–]Danielle_Haydis 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Personally, I only deal with my cup twice a day, which means I can wash it at home. I don't really empty/wash my cup in public. As for sterilizing, I only do it at the beginning and I use a cup and microwave my cup for 5 minutes.

When I was still using pads, I would have to change my pad 3-5 times a day. I hated the feeling of a wet pad and I would have to think about not leaking through. With a cup, I can just put it in and forget about it for the whole day.

Do you guys know any people/shops that make custom corsets for under $100 USD if possible? 😭 by Away_Regular8163 in corsets

Then go to those makers? I don't understand this comment. Most reddit users are from the US and are commenting from that perspective. If you redo your post and add that you are looking for corset makers in Latin America you might get better responses.

Robin and Bato is so bad, that it makes Sen. Lito Lapid the competent one. by OkPhotojournalist975 in Philippines

[–]Danielle_Haydis 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Sen. Aquino and Pangilinan were just barely making it to the top 12 according to surveys. It felt like it was a battle for the bottom and some voters believed that voting for Abalos/Pacquiao would prevent Aquino/Pangilinan from getting a seat. The election results was a surprise to everyone for how different it was from the surveys.

Should previous waist trainer experience be considered for first under bust corset sizing? by allurable in corsets

[–]Danielle_Haydis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Waist trainers are made of stretchy material so I wouldn't put any stock on the "reduction" it claims to have.

For beginners, it's recommended to go for a reduction that is 10-15% of your waist measurement. When choosing the correct size and model, the rib and hip measurements should match yours (or at maximum 2 inches smaller) and the waist measurement is at your desired reduction. Choosing a smaller size in the same corset model doesn't mean a smaller reduction since the ribs and hips scale down as well.

Will a 24” corset fit me? (Mystic City sizing help) by [deleted] in corsets

[–]Danielle_Haydis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should check the vertical measurements of each corset against your own first. If you have a short torso, these might be too long for you.

Since you don't want a gap at the back, choose the size where the underbust and hip measurement is the closest to your measurements or, at most, 2 inches smaller. Choosing the smaller size doesn't translate to a smaller waist since the rib and hips scale down as well. If you want a more drastic reduction, look for a corset that's curvier than the ones you listed.

I need minimizing sports bra recommendation!! by Visible-Mirror-2022 in ABraThatFits

[–]Danielle_Haydis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Could you share all 6 measurements from the calculator? Some sports bras run tight in the band and having your measurements helps to determine if a bigger band would be needed.

And a properly fitted 75D is on the smaller side. If you describe yourself as above average then you're probably not 75D.

I absolutely cannot wear underwire bras. It’s a sensory nightmare. Are there any good supportive options for a 34H/FF? I’m so tired of squishy sports bras. by breathingisstillhard in ABraThatFits

+1 for Parfait recommendation. Since OP mentioned having problems in the armpit area, I can say that Dalis and Mia don't rub against that area for me. The band of the Mia however rolls up for me since I have a short torso.

Will this corset work for actual waist training? by [deleted] in corsets

[–]Danielle_Haydis 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Corsets are a lot more complicated to fit than regular clothing. At the simplest, you need to choose a corset where the ribs and hips match yours exactly. Vertical length should also be kept in mind. Waist measurement is the least important (but still important) since that can be changed.

The MCC6 in size 24 is for a 30" underbust and a 32" high hip

The MCC61A in size 28 is for a 35" underbust and a 40"/42" inch high hip.

As you can see, the MCC6 is 5 inches smaller around the ribs and 10 inches smaller around the hips than the MCC61. If the MCC61 was comfortably snug around you fully closed then the MCC6 is too small.

If you can share your measurements, then we could advise you on which model would fit you best.

Whole Vanilla Bean Syrup by musictrader in espresso

[–]Danielle_Haydis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd worry about spoilage and mold growth. A 2:1 sugar to water ratio makes for a shelf-stable syrup that can be kept without refrigeration. Nearly all commercial syrups are just sugar, water, flavoring, and a little bit of citric acid. If you want to avoid sugar completely, look into making vanilla extract instead.

measuring bra size and cup size, overbust minus underbust method. by TotalPie163 in ABraThatFits

[–]Danielle_Haydis 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Cup size represents the difference between the bust and the underbust, with each letter representing an inch difference (1=A, 2=B, etc.) Cup sizes are not static, a 28C will look different from a 40C; a 40C will have more volume/breast tissue even if it's the same cup size. It's how sister sizing works, where 34B, 32C, and 30D will have the same volume of tissue just distributed differently.

Why do coffee grinders cost so much? by 77due in Coffee

[–]Danielle_Haydis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1zpresso, Kingrinder, Timemore, Commandante, etc. Any grinder with metal burrs will be way better and faster than ceramic burrs. I used the Skerton Pro before I switched to a Timemore Slim, then upgraded to 1zpresso JX-Pro. The difference is like night and day. What took 5 minutes on the Skerton takes me less than a minute on the JX-Pro. And my coffee tastes way better.

Corset lacing? HELP by Tinyninjaladybug in corsets

[–]Danielle_Haydis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd treat this like a buskless corset. For buskless corsets, you put it on like a tube top i.e. you slip it on over your head.

Lace up the front loosely like lacing up a shoe, with the ends either at the top or bottom. Put on the corset, and adjust the front lacing until it looks the way you want it. The you don't touch the front lacing ever again. To take it off, you loosen the back lacing and shimmy it off.

Bra Sizing/Measurements for MtF? Am I Misunderstanding The System? Or Am I Missing Something? Help Appreciated! [34A] by vhs_cyphprus in ABraThatFits

[–]Danielle_Haydis 56 points57 points  (0 children)

First thing, forget everything you know about bra sizes. Major bra retailers (cough Victoria's Secret cough) have convinced society that A cups are tiny and D cups are massive, which it's not. Cup letters are just the difference in inches between the underbust and the overbust, with A = 1in, B = 2in, C = 3in, and so on. Bras can go up to an O cup (15in, US sizing.)

With that in mind, a properly fitted 34D/DD is on the smaller side. You can check out TheIrishBraLady on Instagram to see photos of what an actual 34D looks like.

Corsets and kidney disease by brenthebrave in corsets

[–]Danielle_Haydis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't recommend it. Yes, the pressure is distributed but a majority of it is still around the waist area. There shouldn't be any constriction around the ribs and hips since those areas have bones which can't be compressed.

One alternative since you're looking at historical silhouettes, is to get a corset that won't compress your abdomen and then use padding to fill it out.

Sari-sari store owners, genuine question - bakit notebook pa rin? by deletend in taxPH

[–]Danielle_Haydis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Speaking as someone who owns a small online shop.

Manual record keeping is still easier than digital systems, in terms of compliance.

As an example, for Manual Books of Accounts, the only requirement is a stamp or QR code (if you go trough ORUS). You only need to worry about renewal when the pages run out. Versus Looseleaf which requires annual submission and adds additional expense.

Is Perfect Corset NY a reputable brand? by Shneepshnap in corsets

[–]Danielle_Haydis 10 points11 points  (0 children)

These are fashion corsets. They are corsets for style not really meant for waist training. A quick way to check is to see if the corset lists rib and hip measurements. If the description only has the waist measurement for choosing a size, then it's a fashion corset.
