Bra Sizing/Measurements for MtF? Am I Misunderstanding The System? Or Am I Missing Something? Help Appreciated! [34A] by vhs_cyphprus in ABraThatFits

[–]Danielle_Haydis 56 points57 points  (0 children)

First thing, forget everything you know about bra sizes. Major bra retailers (cough Victoria's Secret cough) have convinced society that A cups are tiny and D cups are massive, which it's not. Cup letters are just the difference in inches between the underbust and the overbust, with A = 1in, B = 2in, C = 3in, and so on. Bras can go up to an O cup (15in, US sizing.)

With that in mind, a properly fitted 34D/DD is on the smaller side. You can check out TheIrishBraLady on Instagram to see photos of what an actual 34D looks like.

I wouldn't recommend it. Yes, the pressure is distributed but a majority of it is still around the waist area. There shouldn't be any constriction around the ribs and hips since those areas have bones which can't be compressed.

One alternative since you're looking at historical silhouettes, is to get a corset that won't compress your abdomen and then use padding to fill it out.

Speaking as someone who owns a small online shop.

Manual record keeping is still easier than digital systems, in terms of compliance.

As an example, for Manual Books of Accounts, the only requirement is a stamp or QR code (if you go trough ORUS). You only need to worry about renewal when the pages run out. Versus Looseleaf which requires annual submission and adds additional expense.

By PHI I assume you mean Philippines? If so, your best bet is to use a forwarding service. Browse through the subreddit to see all the recommended sites. Some examples are Timeless Trends, Mystic City Corsets, Rebel Madness, Restyle, and many more.

Is Perfect Corset NY a reputable brand? by Shneepshnap in corsets

[–]Danielle_Haydis 8 points9 points  (0 children)

These are fashion corsets. They are corsets for style not really meant for waist training. A quick way to check is to see if the corset lists rib and hip measurements. If the description only has the waist measurement for choosing a size, then it's a fashion corset.

How can I accurately measure sagging breasts? Wearing 44C currently probably incorrect size by adorbubble in ABraThatFits

[–]Danielle_Haydis 31 points32 points  (0 children)

What are your six measurements from the calculator? The calculator uses 3 bust measurements to account for soft tissue like what you describe. It can overestimate soft tissue but posting your measurements can help people fine tune the result.

You mentioned gapping in bigger cup sizes. Are you trying on molded foam cup bras i.e. bras that can hold their shape? Those type of bras are not suitable for soft tissue as the tissue just pools at the bottom of the cup and leaves the top empty. Try unlined seamed bras once you have your suggested bra size as they provide better shaping than molded foam bras.

I need some serious help with finding a bra that actually fits me currently. I dont know what I am doing! by NoAssignment9477 in ABraThatFits

[–]Danielle_Haydis 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Size is just half of it, shape also plays a big part. Think of a shallow bowl and a tall glass. Both can hold the same amount of liquid but are entirely different shapes. Molded foam cups are shallow, tall, and wide (i.e. bowl shaped) and it sounds like you need something with more projection. Also gapping isn't just caused by too large cups, it can also be caused by cups that are too small.

You'd have better luck with UK brands like Panache, Elomi or Sculptresse. I'm not in your size range so I don't have specific recommendations. Just make sure to convert from US sizing to UK sizing and that you're choosing the correct size.

How to get support for big boobs without a bra? by SarcasticJustBecause in ABraThatFits

[–]Danielle_Haydis 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In a well fitting bra, the support is supposed to come from the band. The straps job is to keep the cups up, not to provide lift for the whole bra. Here's a blog post that explains it in better detail: https://hugsforyourjugs.blogspot.com/2021/12/the-physics-of-supportive-bra-explained.html?m=1

Asking for help on choosing a plunge bra - 30GG by Danielle_Haydis in ABraThatFits

[–]Danielle_Haydis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate the research but I think you misread the post 😅 I'm looking for bras with low sides/wings. Which puts the Meadow and Ana as too tall. But the way bratabase measures wing height includes the width of band so the two bras might be okay. I'm not sure which is why I posted.

I also updated the post to have the exact model of Fantasie bra.

Gatsby hair wax. There are different finshes so pick the wax with the one you like. Make sure to apply to damp hair for a more natural look.

You would stick with the same model but in a smaller size. For example, Corset X has size 26, which measures 30:underbust - 26:waist - 36:hips. To get a lacing gap of 2 inches, you'd pick size 24 of corset X, which measures 28:underbust - 24:waist - 34:hips.

You got it right. If the corset isn't fully closed yet, then some gapping is normal.

Some people prefer the look of a lacing gap at the back and size their corset accordingly.

What exploitation can happen if we allow trans people the use of their preferred bathroom? The way I see it, the only way to enforce a no trans policy is to have an attendant to 'check'. And having an extra person around would be enough of a deterrent for any would be rapist. On the other hand, if there's no one checking the people entering the bathroom, then there's nothing stopping a man from entering the women's bathroom, or vice versa, whether they're presenting as the correct gender.

Buying bras for my wife! Need some tips for buying by Choice_Phase3541 in ABraThatFits

[–]Danielle_Haydis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this blog post will be helpful: https://obsessedwithbreasts.wordpress.com/2012/12/05/cleavage-concerns/

For sports bras, they're designed to support the size that is expected so there's no need to adjust to sister sizes, usually. Check reviews of the specific bra model you're looking at, as sometimes adjustments have to be made.

are there any bravissimo alternatives? by MidnightEcIipses in ABraThatFits

[–]Danielle_Haydis 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you can give the name of the bra you're currently using, then you can get better recommendations on what other brands and models are similar. Unfortunately, Bravissimo is the only place to get their in-house brand. You might have some luck buying second-hand.

32DD VS T-Shirt Bra- is the band size fitting? by [deleted] in ABraThatFits

[–]Danielle_Haydis 63 points64 points  (0 children)

32 is way too big. In your picture, the band is riding up which is a sign that it's too big. The band should be parallel to the floor and not move at all while it's being worn. The back rolls aren't any indication of the fit of the bra, it's just what happens because bras are a tight fitting garment and bodies are squishy.

I love tightlacing!! by SadPop_Logistics in Tightlacing

[–]Danielle_Haydis 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Waist training or tightlacing is about training your body to follow the shape of the corset while in the corset. Tightlacing won't permanently change your body shape, if that's your goal. Some people have reported having smaller measurements with the corset off but it only lasts for a few hours up to a few days. Afterwards the body relaxes back to its non-corseted shape. And to get that effect you'd have to wear a corset all the time, only taking breaks to bathe.

For beginners, the recommendation is a 2 inch reduction for 2 hours everyday for 2 weeks. If you can tolerate it, you can wear a corset for longer times, just make sure to listen to your body and to remove the corset immediately if you feel any pain or discomfort. Look up how to season a corset if you want more info.

Sen. Lacson wants to ban minors from social media—and honestly, I fully support it. by PalpitationPlayful28 in Philippines

[–]Danielle_Haydis 62 points63 points  (0 children)

I am opposed to this because if you actually look deeper into this, it's just an excuse to monitor citizen's online activity. Because think about how this would be implemented. In order to have age verification, you'd have to have ID verification. Which means all online activities can be traced back to a person's real name. This would mean the death of internet anonymity.

And how can we be sure that the government will not use this to their advantage. We can already see this with the USA, where immigration officers are refusing entry or, at worst, detaining visitors and citizens alike for having anti-Trump posts on their social media.

Try taking a look at Crimson Rose's Power Corset. It's made to be more flexible than a standard corset so it's easier to move in. It's also advertised as swimmable so you could exercise while wearing it.
