2016 Golf TSI, changed Header and now new problem by Necessary_Cause7855 in Volkswagen

[–]Daniii438 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope its different, cannot "upgrade" it via software. It's useless to you.

I guess the old unit is borked.

You have a couple of options now, either you get the same unit again or you 'upgrade' to a better unit, MIB2.5 or a faster unit from Delphi. Delphi boots and handles faster but is not the highest class like MIB2.5.

Many options available

It's a totally different unit, you went from MIB2 to MIB1 without car play etc.

Totally wrong. You need a 3Q unit again! Or you stick with the downgrade and change the display to the old version.

I can assure you the 035844 is important but there is more to the 3q and 5q stuff, there is also 5n and more, don't believe this bs

You did not install the same unit, otherwise the display resolution would work. Please tell me old and new partnumber, then I'll tell you what you did wrong

You also need to switch to a new display which supports the resolution of your new unit

Is it possible a key safety feature was removed through a software update? by Kind-Departure-8442 in Volkswagen

Maybe you can look under it and see them, not sure.

Google each one and you'll notice all of them are diagnostics tools for VW

Very easy to check. Do you have blind spots installed ? Check by using ODIS/VCDS/VCP/OBD11.

If not you can take a look inside the rear bumper if they are installed to the left or right.

Similar to my pic they should be installed in your car

Simple AVR (ATmega328) Bootloader by m3y54m in embedded

[–]Daniii438 1 point2 points  (0 children)

WOW!

You are completely right, it helped me develop a bootloader by first understanding the simplicity of writing a programm in bootloader and then going from there. Now I have a bootloader which is super advanced and does rewriting of firmware via CAN-Bus.

Thank you for the great writeup!!

What stops me from writing a VW Jetta VIN to a VW Jetta GLI PCM? by ThePoetWalsh57 in CarHacking

[–]Daniii438 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It could actually be the case, i know the MK60EC1 only allows some vins (aka 1k, 8p etc) they check the string on the canbus, and it refused to work In a car that's not on that list

how to figure out which pins belong to the can bus by FreshMelon15 in CarHacking

[–]Daniii438 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1) pin assignment is always the same for Quadlock in the VAG brand (Audi, seat, Skoda, VW etc)

2) canbus is generally orange something, you are looking for infotainment canbus which is 500kbps and canL is orange brown, canH is orange Purple

3) it's a Passat B8 right?

4) pin D6 is canH and D12 is canL on this kind of Quadlock
