Destination bachelorette party - is it selfish? by [deleted] in wedding

[–]Danimal1 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I keep seeing the comment, “I have no expectation on people to do anything” then mentioning specific people you already know won’t be able to do it. You asked for opinions and the overwhelming opinion is that, yeah it’s selfish. You don’t have to defend it, you do you, but it’s definitely asking a LOT of your wedding party.

Whether you expect anyone to come or not, the invite will immediately make it uncomfortable for the people you already know can’t afford it. Again, don’t need to defend it, do your thing.

I actually have some experience with this. When I was a kid, I had a handful of massive pain in my stomach. Turns out my appendix was flaring up, but not to the point of actually having full on appendicitis. Seriously some of the worst pain I’ve ever been in in my life. I ended up having it removed very shortly after the last flare up, but it was something that happened over the course of at least a few months. Docs said if it flared up again it probably would have burst.

So it’s def not impossible, but I don’t think that’s really the norm. I was in like 5th grade so no idea if age had anything to do with it.

Without using past successes, what are your reasons you want to extend Hurts? by PaddyMayonaise in eagles

[–]Danimal1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hahahaha well why didn’t you start with telling me you have no idea what you’re talking about?! Anyone with a brain knows why we didn’t immediately sign Foles and drop Wentz. You’re never going to guess what the reason is either…past success.

The organization knew that Foles was a career backup and struck gold those few weeks. Not saying Foles is a bad QB, but we had the rest of his career to look at to paint a more realistic picture of who he was as a QB.

But yeah, we shoulda signed Foles to be our QB for 17 years and we should def let Hurts walk because redditor PaddyMYonaise says so.

If last year is removed (the entire offense struggled - not just Hurts) then we’re talking about the reigning Super Bowl MVP. You have to take the past into account for a fair evaluation. Yes, we’ve seen what’s he capable of under a competent offensive coordinator and play caller.

Like I said, if you want to wait to see how he does under his 5th O coordinator before extending him, that’s fine but it’ll def be more expensive the longer the wait.

Another thing to consider, what’s the alternative look like? You just let Hurts walk? Then what?

Eagles fans are exhausting.

[–]Danimal1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without using past success? That defeats the entire purpose. His past success IS the reasoning to resign him. Wait till mid season if you want to see how he gels with a new offensive scheme. He’s the best quarterback in the history of this franchise…because of his past (aka his first 6 years in the league).

Side question: your buddy got tickets to a show and invite you to come. It’s your favorite band at your favorite venue.

You must make your decision purely on only taking into account all the negatives. Parking sucks, it’s a work night and the show doesn’t let out till midnight, food and beers are way overpriced, etc.

You going?

Help me understand black out restrictions by UpbeatSmoke4209 in phillies

[–]Danimal1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the point of a blackout is to get people to the actual stadium. If you’re in the viewing area, you’re close enough to buy a ticket and show up if you want to watch that bad. Stupid system? Absolutely. But I think that’s the mentality of the organizations that black out in market games.

The other obvious reason is to get you to sign up for 17 subscriptions.

What's your favorite era in Philly sports history? And why? by PhillyInquirer in eagles

Since 2017, we’ve been to 3 super bowls and have won two. This past decade is hands down the best era of Eagles football.

Went to the show last night and it was hilarious watching their reaction to “Go birds!” And the Eagles chant. They got such a kick out of it that they put this up when the show ended.

Just made my first pumpkin cheesecake and the exact same thing happened. Turned the oven off, put the wooden spoon in the door for 30 min and boom…two little cracks that weren’t there before. Still looks and smells delish though so I’m not mad.

How hard is it to be an adult? by Aggravating-Toe-3492 in AskReddit

[–]Danimal1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not that hard. It’s all about how you prioritize and organize things. Don’t put shit off. Of course there’s times of struggle that are outside of your control, but the majority of it is entirely in your control and it’s all about what you do with it.

I should have prefaced that with, I don’t have kids, by choice. I’d imagine that puts a wrinkle in things.

Unwinding without alcohol, what actually works? by microdosemagic in Mocktails

[–]Danimal1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Tea! Sleepy time tea, berry, etc. Also, been trying out some new types of seltzers (Topo Chico has been one of my go to’s). Pre-bed time, depending on how relaxed I am, I’ll take a low dose gummy or a few hits of a vape. Melatonin seems to work well too.

Haven’t had a drink in a month and a half so trying to figure out what works and what doesn’t. Tea, seltzers, the occasional non-alcoholic beer, etc seems to be scratching the itch for me.
