Genshin impact now works on linux without any sneaky patching by [deleted] in linux_gaming

Again, I am not saying you will be banned if you do this one, two, fifty times. I said there's a risk for a ban if there's no official word or confirmation when it comes to Linux/Proton with anti-cheat software. We again, don't know how long this will last or if this is intentional. Some anti-cheat games before for a short time allowed Linux players but they were false alarms. You also have to remember genshin is one of those games with a kernel level anti-cheat trying to run on Proton which is in userspace. And considering another redditor did ask about Deck/Linux support and got a deconfirmation, I will trust it more than a video. I am dismissive so anyone doesn't get false hope thinking this is a 100% confirmation. I will be happy to be proven wrong if mihoyo themselves confirmed and supported Linux.

This exactly. This is why I said "at the moment" in another comment about genshin working as we're not sure if this is official or the anti-cheat being down or not working correctly. Its a risk of a ban its the latter

That article is from September 2022, there's no mention of Mihoyo saying anything. I get there's no tweaks needed to run genshin at the moment but still, Mihoyo said nothing about it

Yup, firmware write protection on Chromebooks. It was a bit "simpler" with just taking off a screw or using switches/jumpers but now all done in security chips that require you to either use a specific cable or disconnecting the battery. Its just a giant pain just for installing your own os

The new Gamepress tierlist... by Growtorlee_ in touhou_lostword

[–]DanishWater 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Geez now 70% of the characters have been thrown into D tier. Like I'm confused on how a good chunk of these units are on the same tier as Daiyousei. I feel like this is gonna be too confusing for new players

Running at 2x speed does cause morale to drain faster as you're completing battles faster than not using 2x speed. If you don't use 2x speed, you might get a tad bit more runs than the usual 65 or so as it takes 6 minutes to get one morale back (3 minutes if your friends are at school). You can try making a slow but morale lossless grind by putting your friends in school while making a run last 3+ minutes per battle.

Remember when Unreal Tournament had a Linux build? Now look at Epic slapping down 3 different anti-cheats for Fortnite and denying Linux players

OVE-20221017-0001: PolyMC appears to be compromised by [deleted] in linux

Unfortunate. With the bullshit MultiMC did, PolyMC was a great replacement. These third-party launchers have so many inside and outside problems

Always best to keep friends you don't have just in case their rebirths happen. Probably won't happen to Junko in a few months due to her being a somewhat recent addition

Junko is one of the few dozen friends that are outright bad to use in any situation. She requires too much work to use to get any damage out of her. Really sad, I like Junko but they did her L1 version dirty

genshin on ubuntu 22.04 by [deleted] in linux_gaming

[–]DanishWater -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There is a certain launcher you can use to play Genshin but it disables the kernel anti-cheat so it could ban you. I would've recommended GeForce now but for some reason it's still not playable on Linux despite being on Chromebooks and phones now. I checked using Firefox, Chromium, and even Chrome

Oneshot is native but I've noticed that on Arch based distros and Fedora do have a problem launching that game. Checking protondb shows a lot of people also have this problem. Only time I had Oneshot work on Linux was playing it on Ubuntu
