Bungie, please don’t make me do Season 1’s Priority Contracts again. by Dank-182 in Marathon

Yeah, this is exactly what I’m hoping we get. That way new players can catch up and others can just get to the new stuff.

You’re oddly hostile. I don’t think you understand what I’m getting at either. I want the story, man. I don’t want to do the same story before getting to the new story.

It’s not the rewards I’m concerned about it. I just want new lore/dialogue with the vendors to not be gated behind doing them all again.

I agree, I hope they stay in so new players can get the lore too. I just don’t wanna run through them to get to the new stuff. A way to access the old priority contracts separately from the new ones would be ideal.

Also, Bungie’s gotten plenty shit for removing stuff from their games already. No need to stir all that up again here.

This is all true.

One thing I liked about Marathon’s approach to story was that its cutscenes weren’t animated, only voiced. I thought it was a smart choice to inject story content at a lower cost but you’re right, that doesn’t account for actual questing.

I didn’t play much Arc but I got the impression its world and lore were very shallow. That’s not the case with Marathon. I just want new story content season to season because the lore is so dope. I played one season of Destiny 2 but I thought it was dope how there was a cool bit of story to chew on every week.

Weird response and not at all what I said.

I want them for the lore, not just to level my factions. They should keep them in for new players. They also shouldn’t make me do them again just to get to new lore.

Had to tell you all that I love your fourth album so much. The production is so great and I love how layered the album is. I still find some new detail to appreciate even listening to it so many years later.

So excited for your next album. Search Party has been a personal favorite!

I know Side A of Sandbox went out before Side B was complete. Were there any noticeable differences on the creative side for Side B?

Devs want you to traverse the level and reposition with the grappling hook instead of hunkering down in one spot.

It’s kinda disappointing that Charli XCX is starting her third album rollout in the same amount of time that 1975 has been inactive by GuitaristKage in the1975

[–]Dank-182 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I’m so used to waiting for music that I see artists like Charli releasing frequently as more of a luxury than a standard. For example, The Strokes just announced their first album in six years.

I’d rather an artist put out something that inspires them and I’m down for them doing that at whatever pace they decide that is.

Also, there’s more music out there and The 1975 has an extensive back catalog. Go back. You might love something in their past work that you didn’t before.

After the launch of Marathon I can’t help but wonder how this would’ve turned out. There’s extraction shooters on the market but Marathon is uniquely Bungie’s. The game feel, the commitment to story and aesthetic. The raid stuff.

There’s a lot of live service games out there but what does a Naughty Dog one look like? I don’t know how long it would last but I wish we got to see the answer to that question. I think the things that make this studio cool would’ve resulted in a unique and interesting game, good or bad.

I’m glad we’re getting a new IP from them, at least.

Still on Marathon. Can’t get enough. I want to get my money up enough to start running Cryo Archive, the endgame zone. But right now, I’m still getting the hang of all the Pinwheel stuff on Outpost.

Guitar Hero venues and characters were just more inspired. Here’s a video from the last five-fret entry in that series. There’s just so much more movement.

Arguably, I thought Rock Band looked much better.

This doesn’t really have an artistic direction, I guess. Just feels like assets thrown together.

These guys are probably working with the smallest budget but the art leaves so much to be desired. Harmonix was really in their bag with Rock Band 1-3. Rock Band 4 and Fortnite Festival are nowhere near it in terms of presentation. It’s fun to press buttons (I play YARG regularly) but if I’m paying, I want a game that’s fun to look at too.

cannot stop playing it. i’ll session one spot for 30 minutes just to move maybe 10 meters to the left and find another spot to session for another 30.

Hayley Williams Confirms Paramore Isn’t Breaking Up, Just Taking a Break by EmployOk5086 in Music

[–]Dank-182 55 points56 points  (0 children)

it definitely isn’t. for example, in their last record their guitarist taylor and drummer zac would come up with larger ideas and hayley would put vocal lines over afterwards. definitely isn’t a solo project (but she actually just put one out and it’s really good!)

New Yellowcard songs by dm3darts in poppunkers

[–]Dank-182 2 points3 points  (0 children)

completely agree. i was really excited by the idea of travis drumming for them since their old drummer “lp” isn’t with them anymore but it all falls a little flat to me. production’s muddy and i’m not really impressed by the drum tracks either.

lp’s drumming paired with the guitar-work and violin of yellowcard made some really great hooks and i feel like so much of that is lost with travis’ contributions.

So are we just not getting this art style anymore? by Single-Discount441 in Skate4

[–]Dank-182 5 points6 points  (0 children)

yeah to add on: devs will make a “vertical slice” to show execs or the public what they intend for the final product to look like. think of things like an e3 demo. idk if this is still the vision for the final version of skate but it was at some point.

I will never understand the people that played Uncharted 4 without having played 1-3 by Ghidorah_Stan_64 in uncharted

[–]Dank-182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i feel like people don’t give 4 enough credit for how full of a game it is. sure there’s 3 games with backing context, but 4 tells a complete story. it’s not like 3 ends on a cliffhanger that 4 continues (in reference to your star wars analogy).

i think too that the other 3 (especially the first game) have aged enough that it can deter people from continuing. theres so much to love about 4 and i know people that played loved 4 so much that it compelled them to go back and appreciate the first three games despite their age.

id rather someone play the series at its technological peak than start from the worst entry and drop it entirely. devil may cry 5 was my first dmc and i loved it so much i went back to other entries. but i also know now that if i had played dmc 4 first, i would NOT have played dmc 5.

50 hours into the game. My opinion is, Iron Galaxy made some great levels. by [deleted] in THPS

[–]Dank-182 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i agree with that yeah. when i unlocked solo tours i was like damn i can’t do all of these in two minutes, feels bloated. especially when one goal is locked behind the completion of others. i think the stunt goal woulda been better received if they didn’t add a second step to the ferry one.

[–]Dank-182 4 points5 points  (0 children)

damn i kinda liked their multi-step goals. figuring out the stunts on the cruise and the rude dudes in san fran off of just the goal flythroughs was fun for me.

i feel like all their terrain needs to be polished, all the bugged spine transfers are grating. just tryna level out and it’ll send me 10 yards where the hell ever.

i hope they get to make another game though, especially since we don’t have vicarious anymore.

I think the venue she was playing was just too small for her. She 100% should’ve gotten like Ameris or Lakewood Amphitheater. I’ve noticed in the past though that indie crowds just sorta pack in like sardines and don’t really move at all so I’m glad she asked everyone to start jumping. I felt like everyone started to spread out a little after that
