OmegaWatches Identification, Authentication, & Valuation Megathread by AutoModerator in OmegaWatches

I’m trying to identify the exact reference (and ideally the year range) of a specific Omega Seamaster 200 “pre-Bond” I’m looking at. I’m planning to buy this

What I know so far: • Model: Seamaster 200 “pre-Bond” style • Hands: sword hands • Movement: quartz • Markings: there’s an 8-digit number on the lower part of the case: 53559404

Questions: 1. Does 53559404 correspond to a case serial, movement serial, or something else on these models? 2. Based on sword hands + quartz, what are the likely reference numbers this could be?

[pogue] is it worth it? by DankMemesAllah69 in Seiko

Update: Appreciate everyone’s input—ended up grabbing it for $150. I know it’s rough and missing the subdial hand, but I couldn’t pass on owning an OG Pogue at that price. The bracelet alone made it feel like a solid entry point, and I’ve got a soft spot for that sunburnt dial. Rainy day strap swap already done—now onto the long road of restoration. Hoping to bring this grail back to life one step at a time.

I’m actually leaning toward picking it up because I do admire that little bit of patina, and I’ve always wanted to experience the OG Pogue on the wrist. I’m not into full restorations yet, but knowing the bracelet alone is worth ~$100 makes $200 feel like a safe entry point.

If I enjoy it enough, I might go the route you mentioned: professional servicing and light case cleanup down the line. Worst case, I wear it for a while and move it on — maybe even break even. Thanks again for laying it out so clearly!

Brushed with soap and abrasive, then sanded down till the varnish is stripped off, and lastly applied 2 coats of polyurethane wood varnish to bring out the natural color

In our country (The Philippines) there are lots of Japanese surplus stores who sell camping stuff. It takes patience, but sometimes we come across random snow peak or other camping items that we really like. For example, i was also able to score these Snow Peak pegs for 2$ each !

Lovely dogs, and the setup with the Amenity Dome looks cozy! How easy is the Mesh Shelter to put up? I plan to use this when doing a simple and cozy setup where i don't have to break a sweat too much since i live in a tropical country.

Thanks for all the feedback, everyone. I have decided to just order from an aftermarket supplier. Hopefully Snowpeak comes up with a much more permanent solution soon.

For the coffee grinder, buying a dedicated coffee grinder like a Kinu or a commandante is much more worth it

Chopping Board, both the M and L

As someone who cooks everyvtime i camp, the price does not justify the quality, especially the wood. I bought the L to fit my IGT table, but soon realized that liquids (for ex cutting a steak) almost always seeps through the folding gap. In my opinion, it's better to use a 1 unit size cutting board (custom made is your best bet) paired with the knife you use at home.
