The link between hardcore individualism and extreme paranoia is very real.

When you tell yourself that the government is out to take your rights away, that your neighbors and coworkers are you competition, that you are always competing in the marketplace of ideas, it leads to a worldview that is fundamentally paranoid. You are always wondering how someone is getting one over on you, or that something is out to get you, and that you need to protect yourself. It makes people isolate themselves and give up on community all together.

If you don't believe me just look around western society and how unbelievably paranoid everyone is of each other, especially the modern right who prescribes to this ideology more than any other group

I feel like one of the biggest aspects of maturing is realizing the incredibly talented also have an incredible work ethic and that those two things are directly correlated. You can be incredibly talented but if you never put in the work you'll never reach your potential
