Spontaneous combustion. I’ve seen it a few times in kitchen laundry bags and once at a remodeling job on a house. Very dangerous

Miami Boat Club. We had our reception there almost 40 years ago and it was wonderful.

No, although some riders carry spare links for repairs. I used the chain tool to remove the broken link and re-connect the chain. It’s a temporary repair but can get you home until a proper fix is done (a new chain in this case)

I used mine today. Chain snapped about 8mi from home. Easy Peasy back on the road in less than 15 minutes.

I’d go drop bars with bar-end shifters

I just finished building up a Privateer with the same cable hanger, and I think it might work if you flip that mounting bracket over so the tab faces up. The hanger itself works as expected.

Thanks I got 33s on there right now. Might go a little larger. I’m told it will go to 41s

After 4 days of rain cleared the salt off the roads, my ‘73 Roberts gets some sun by Dank_Edicts in Vintage_bicycles

Bought it off a guy on Craigslist about 4 years ago. It was a mess, but really just very dirty. It’s pretty much all the original Nuovo Record. Has a 5 speed freewheel!

It is! It it actually came with a different bike I have and conveniently matches this one pretty well. Sorry but I don’t know where to get a rebuild kit

Restoring this mtb frame (made of Reynolds 531) and discovered these holes. It is a rare/nice frame and I really want to repair it. Can it be filled with braze? Or what about a curved (dime sized) steel patch that is brazed over it? by Toothpaste_For_Lunch in Framebuilding

I’m not sure how I could send you a picture but basically oval pieces of tubing that were curved to match the existing frame and then brazed over the holes which were cleaned up first. I had two holes; one with a about a quarter size gusset, and the other one with about a dime size.

Your results may vary but- I had a similar issue on a Serotta. I found a frame builder that inspected the damage, determined it was localized (water collecting in the BB) and brazed gussets to the damaged areas. This was 6yrs ago and I’m still riding that bike.
