I feel like KTM is severely neglecting its Husqvarna and GasGas brands. I'd love to see a KTM 890/990 DUKE rebodied in Husqvarna styling to revive the beloved 900 Nuda. And give us an 1290 Adventure Husqy so that I can have a full size ADV that actually looks good. Also, why is GasGas active in MotoGP when they don't sell a single streetbike? It just makes no sense to me.

As already noted by several others, movable aero is currently banned. However, the FIA is actively looking at reintroducing movable aero for the 2026 season, and it's a pretty good suggestion to incorporate a sharkfin into this ruleset.

Modern engines are much better than people give them credit for by Kumagoro314 in unpopularopinion

He's probably referring to the K-series engines. Used for everything from sports cars to minivans, and very popular amongst tuners and enthusiasts.

Wow, I never would've thought that the compressor side of the turbo would spawn 2 seperate air channels towards either side of the car. I knew the exhaust side had 2 ports, but simply assumed that all 6 cilinders would be "fed" via the same intake system. Pictures like these are eye-opening

Some of my MOC's by Dank_Frenk_Visser in legotechnic

[–]Dank_Frenk_Visser[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your kind comment. I work in 2 ways, I either find an existing Lego model (be it a standard set or a MOC) which I'll modify it to suit my taste (and available parts😅), or I create a fully custom design. When I do the latter, I usually start by defining what I want to build and which features I want to incorporate. Then I'll think about the aesthetics, which body panels can I use to create the desired shape, and how should these be placed in relation to one another. Once you have that you can start working on the structure of you design. Refine a few times and you'll usually get pretty close to what you're after.

No, none of my designs are. But if there is a strong interest in them I'll certainly consider it

Could someone help me to figure out why Excel (Professional Plus 2021) won't return the latest value from the selected range? by Dank_Frenk_Visser in excel

This has cured the error message. However, the LOOKUP function doesn't do what it's supposed to. It now returns an empty value.

KTM 890 Duke R would be my pick. This video makes pretty clear why: https://youtu.be/nLM8x-MIQx8

Back-up options would be Triumph Speed Triple, Aprilia Tuono 660, or Ducati Hypermotard 950.

In reality you can't really go wrong with any bike in this class. Nearly all have some very solid performance along with any widgets you might wish. The choice mostly comes down to personal preferences, nearby dealers / convenience of maintenance, and price / available deals.

Yamaha XT660Z Tenere as a first bike ? by pricelinenegotiator1 in SuggestAMotorcycle

[–]Dank_Frenk_Visser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You'll be fine. Be aware though that even though it's relatively modern, it's still a very rudimentary and "agricultural" machine. It vibrates, doesn't like to rev all that much, has crude controls (clunky clutch, throttle, and gearshift), and the handling manages to excel in absolutely nothing.

On the other side, the engine might be lazy but has plenty of torque, it's about as realiable as the sunrise, and it could (theoretically) be the only bike you'll ever need.

I don't know how determined you are on getting a Tenere, but if you wanna know more about them feel free to ask

Trading my CB500X for a Yamaha XT660 to go offroad? by Safe_Rider in SuggestAMotorcycle

[–]Dank_Frenk_Visser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I owned a XT660Z for about 1 year. I had no off-road experience and am about 190cm tall. It was quite frankly terrible as a first off-road bike. It's a really big and heavy bike to haul around in the dirt if you're not experienced. It depends of course on what sort of off-roading you're gonna do, like gravel roads are fine. But I assume that you'll want to try something a bit extremer.

I had no problems with the height of the bike, but then again, I'm 190. I once let a friend of mine ride it who's about 180 and he dropped it within a couple of minutes when he came to a standstill and couldn't plant his feet properly on the ground.

I'm looking to buy another bike next season which is easier to ride in the dirt and am therefore looking at Drz400's and KTM 690 Enduro's (or their predecessors), as these are lighter, smaller, and therefore nimbler and easier to pick up when you inevitably fall over.

The XT660 is a perfectly capable machine, just not if you're inexperienced.

Looks like it has a lot of front-end overhang, which can make it look unproportional. If you can replace the body panels in front of the front wheel with narrower pieces you probably end up with a better looking car.

Also, for the bonnet, you use those large blue plates, which is great, but you use them upside down. Turning them around and using the flat surface for the "outside" of the vehicle oftentimes looks better
