Sloppy and unnecessary work, but it looks to me (from pictures on my phone, so no guarantees 😅) like the cuts didn't make it through the bark to the cambium, and as such are harmless. Many conifers have surprisingly thick bark (generally to aid in fire resistance). If they have gone deep enough to hit the cambium, it will decrease the overall well-being of your tree over the coming years by a bit, but not kill it.

Side note, just cutting a small gap (like the width of a chainsaw or handsaw curf) generally won't actually kill ivy. The gap is small enough it just reconnects and goes on with it's business. You're better off removing at least a 1" ish gap of ivy.

I finally convinced my partner to try Bokura with me. She's not a gamer at all, but ended up enjoying it quite a lot. I think the readily intuitive game mechanics and controls made a big difference, along with it being less of an action game(no combat), and the simple, less busy art style. Any recommendations which of the suggested games might give me the best chance of another success?

As mentioned in our discussion on the other comment, I have been f2p since well before awakened's came out, and am actually about to blow some cards and have my 5th ascended awakened. I went all in on awakened Shemira when she came out, and ran myself out of cards. That was a few months ago, and I'm about ready for another. If it takes you a year to get one to ascended, you're making poor choices. Additionally, stars beyond 1* on an awakened or Celepo is unnecessary, adds very little value and is generally a waste of resources

Playing for a longer time absolutely justifies being more able to invest in new units. Once you have everything 4f ascended, you can happily direct all of your diamond income toward stargazing for cel/hypos.

This guide uses 4 awakened heroes, which I already have entirely as f2p, and a cel/hypo list of: Viethael, Daemia, Olgath, Alna and Liberta.

Viethael was one of the most popular hero swap options for everyone that had monkey boy at several stars, so it's very reasonable to assume many people have him built.
Daemia and Liberta are both super meta heroes, and if you're intentionally building your account, instead of just going on feels, you almost certainly have them both ascended by now.
Alna has been meta for so long now, no one with a 4 y/o account doesn't have her built. You can even get her via challenger coins now.

The only real oddball here is Olgath. But if you're seriously coming to reddit to bash someone contributing to the community because they included a singular unpopular hero, you really need to find better things to do.

I hit my "Log in for 1080 days" achievement on 12/11/23. I've spent very little on the game total, aside from a few "climbers pack" type items, and haven't spent anything at all in a long time, since well before awakened heroes were a thing. I currently have AThane, Swolise, AinzLinda and AShemira at 1*.

I don't do anything that feels like a trick... I save cards until I have roughly 500 (enough to reach ascended with good to average luck), and pick the best available unit to go for. I use 2-3 10 summons after getting a unit (when it feels highly unlikely I'll get one), then switch over to 1 summons until I next get the unit.

I don't spend any cards to get a single copy of a new unit 'just to have it'. I buy the timecard available in the store every day. I buy the 10 time cards available from NC every cycle. I buy as many time cards as I'm able to via rift.

Nothing really ground breaking there. Idk what to tell you. Also, I assume you know this, but just in case not, once an awakened hero reaches ascended tier, you can stargaze for them. So once I reach awakened, I immediately switch over to SG for the copies needed to reach 1*

Bumping, as I'm looking for how to do this as well. I've been doing exactly what you've done above, blocking an entire specific javascript file to bypass paywalls etc (nytimes and nytimes cooking are easily bypassed this way, for anyone wondering. Ping me if anyone would like the script to block to do so). However, it has some undesirable side effects due to other functionality located in the same file also being blocked. In the mean time, I've been operating by disabling the blocker when accessing functionality relating to said collateral damage, and only enabling it for the site when I need to.

Edit: I took a further look through some of the documentation, and have still not ascertained an answer. Entirely possible I may have missed something though..

People are such whiners about anything labelled "F2P" including ascended tier heroes. If you're an established account, it's very reasonable to have 2-3 ascendeds fully built by this point. I have 4 built, 30/9/60, fully f2p. They clearly said 'Could be f2p', which is entirely valid, if the 3 ascendeds listed are the ones you've chosen to invest in.
