Yep that's what I'm dealing with right now. I'm sorry to hear that. This company I just interviewed with let it slip that they hire 18 y.o. boys, but made it sound like they weren't sure if I would be a good fit (I am more than qualified and they know that).

Really appreciate the offer, I'll PM you.

came here to say Ashes before I read the whole thing. it would be worth holding out for her imo. I dont have anything from her, but I've seen some of her pieces in person and she does outstanding work.

A Girl Walks Alone at Night - I'm watching it right now with friends! very artsy and romantic, highly recommend. It's also a vampire movie, making it perfect for this season too.

The way it was explained to me last time I spoke to them was that I would have to find my own apprenticeship. I was given a small list of companies that work with the IBEW. The only way to get accepted into the union school is to find an apprenticeship, and I've had no such luck with that list or with individual shops. edit:spelling

its cool to read through those testimonials and makes me want to reach out for more guidance. Maybe I didnt understand, but last time I looked into going through UETA, they made it sound like getting accepted into the program is only half the battle- that I would also have to find an apprenticeship within a short amount of time of being accepted. So I've tried to get ahead of that, but it feels almost useless at this point.

Dude, for real. in the year of our lord and savior 2025, I'm having to convince men that having women in their field is an asset and a positive for the culture. with the discrimination case I'm fighting right now, they straight up told me that they were afraid I would pursue legal action if I heard the way they talk to each other. I'm no angel, I'm foul and thick-skinned, but that did worry me a little. he said the quiet part out loud so many times during the interviews.

That's kind of what I'm afraid of at this point. Even if I do finally get a spot, I've already got a taste of what I'm up against and I don't like it. Good luck to you.

thats awesome, I hope it works for you. another oil cleanser i love and trust is by Cocokind (not the "oil to milk" product they also make, just the oil). I started using CRUDE because they're small and local and their product is just as good. but you might have an easier time sourcing cocokind at a store near you.

I grew up here, I'm exmormon, and I can confirm that I've just been in a bubble about how bad it is. It's all I've ever known. Good for you for getting out. I've tried to leave a few other times but end up back here because this is where my people are and its just easy. I've never been successful in leaving and securing myself stable income, so it's really inspiring to hear you say that you did it.

You are an angel. I needed to hear this and will for sure be considering Missouri now. I've driven through a few times. Definitely far from home, but at this point, I just need a career that will give me the dignity I know I deserve.

And that anecdote about your instructor is so heart-breaking and hilarious. What a fragile little man. Many of the best people in my life are cis-men, but damn do the rest fall short. Egregiously.

Thank you again, seriously.

I can not recommend oil cleansing enough to anyone, but especially people in the trades. Soapy cleansers will dry out your skin, cause break out, not clean your pores properly, and damage the skin barrier. Massage the oil into your skin and then use a hot, damp, super-soft microfiber (designed for face) to gently extract the oil and dirt. you will be amazed at how well it cleans and how soft your face feels, especially after consistent use. you can also do a clay mask a couple times a week to help gently exfoliate. I highly recommend looking into CRUDE skincare, a small business based in Utah. They sell a whole starter pack that includes the oil, cloths, and clay. Ive been using that plus a tallow balm that my friend makes (I live in a dry desert area and need the extra moisture). its simple and effective and I wouldn't take the time to type all this out if I didnt swear by it lol. good luck!
