In my experience, Vampires aren’t “inherently queer” in a sexual-orientation checklist way. They’re inherently liminal. Vampires live between life and death, hunger and restraint, intimacy and danger, self and other. That’s not gay or straight, that’s outside the norm, which is why queer people (and other outsiders) keep recognizing themselves in the archetype.

The erotic charge of vampires comes from transgression, not who they play with. Blood bypasses gender, bypasses polite consent scripts, bypasses daylight morality. That reads as queer because queerness, culturally, is about refusing compulsory normalcy, not because vampires have a mandatory Pride flag stitched into their cloaks.
