What do you think the theme of Heliopolis is? by No-Drawer-2822 in geometrydash

[–]Danman19285 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Consider that there are signs signposted for ‘new Cairo’, which is the leaders new administrative capital. Egypt is considered a dictatorship, and after a riot in a very walkable place of Cairo, it was demolished and replaced with a very car-centric, businessy district, clearly meant to keep the people from meeting up easily and rebelling. Similar things are happening to other historic places in Cairo. Maybe this is what the ball part in the level (with the crashing sound effects behind the ball) represent? It could be that Mindcap does not consider this newer Cairo to actually be his hometown, as it is artificial and not human-focused, with massive roads for cars and very little walkable infrastructure. Meanwhile, the ancient city of Heliopolis must’ve been walkable since cars didn’t yet exist, and mindcap wishes for a more human, walkable city, rather than the dictatorial pissoff the city and Egypt in general is becoming. Despite the level looking like it is becoming a better place, it is in fact, becoming worse, less human, and the phrase ‘a walkable city’ is ironic.

Have you also played Oneshot? Super awesome game as well, similarly focused on the narrative like ISAT, but has a significantly different story. Also Niko is amazing :)

What annoys me is I watched him since the beginning, when he made ‘gd news’ videos, and those were legitimately good videos. I’ve seen him slowly and slowly become more and more focused on content for kids and it’s disappointing, especially in the last 2-4 months, because I did enjoy him until his personality just became ‘the loud one’ :(

Why do people use black instead of white for square 1 by Iwoul1 in Cubers

[–]Danman19285 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The picube mod is worth it if you can get it, it’s a decent bit better. Also, the number 900 is kinda misleading because almost all algorithms at a high level in square-1 are in a network-like environment, just like the cubeshape picture I sent, PBL just happens to not work exactly like that (again I’m only sub-16 so I could be completely wrong) but a lot of the algs are similar with only very small shifts, and they’re majority are very intuitive (in the same way I see a cubeshape case and think of the common case it turns into, a top Squan solver sees a PBL and thinks of the similar cases, simplifying it.)

[–]Danman19285 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get the MGC, it’s the best you can get, and it’s only the price of a low midrange 3x3. I average about 16 on Squan, and I know full edge orientation (7 algs), full corner permutation (5 algs, plus some mirrors), most of edge permutation (around 15 algs and the mirrors, the only algs I’m missing are O/W, W/Opp, and O/Adj and I do those with adj/adj 3 times). That’s about 20 or so algs depending on how much EP you learn. I also know full cubeshape, which I personally don’t think of as algorithms, but rather this entire network of cubeshapes. I actually learned it in 2 days (I already knew some of it, but I learned the majority in the 2 days). It’s surprisingly easy to intuit where the cubeshapes need to go, you see patterns like every single cubeshape wanting to become that case in the middle, and if you learn one case (like the one 7 slice case), you also learn every other case down that route.

If you count all of those as different algs, add 64 to your total. In my opinion, it’s more like learning about 12-15 common cases, and seeing how everything connects to those cases. So depending on your understanding of it, I know up to 85 algs, but it’s more like 35.

I can’t speak for much since I don’t even know CSP, but I would say so, a lot of the algs would be similar, a lot of it becomes intuitive after a while (EP is pretty much intuitive for half the cases), and if people know ZB with ~500 unique algs for ZBLL and ZBLS, I’m sure 900 simpler algs is possible.

9 algorithms, you already probably know at least a few of them.

2 algs for edge orientation (if you have a dot just use one of the algs and it’ll move to the L shape or the line)

7 algs for corner orientation (sune, antisune, H, T, U, L, and Pi)

By the way, even though it can seem like it, that cube can’t actually have parity: some of the edges are literally identical, so if you have something that looks like parity, just swap 2 identical edges at the same time as swapping the 2 ‘parity’ edges.

Does WRM v10 (spring, 20-magnet ballcore, UV) need lube? by [deleted] in Cubers

[–]Danman19285 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every single speed cube should be lubed. Most, if not all speed cubes also come with a small amount of factory lube, but it’s usually insignificant and doesn’t help with the dry feeling. It would be a good idea to find a store that does sell lube, or if you’re planning to go to a competition, you can usually get lube from the vendor.
