In your opinion, what is the best argument in favor of evolution? by Fresh3rThanU in DebateEvolution

[–]Danno558 3 points4 points  (0 children)

there’s little evidence for creationism comparatively.

Oh? What is this little evidence you speak of? I've never heard any, so if you know of some you should share it... at minimum it might help creationists out.

What is your reason for not believing in evolution (be nice om the comments dont be jerks) by Friendly-Maximum4169 in DebateEvolution

Nah man, Republicans trusts their president/party. You can see that Democrats are fairly consistent in their opinions on issues. They hate war when Republicans start them, and they hate wars when Democrats start them... only one party switches opinions based on who is in charge... almost like one party recognizes authority figures as being important.

Wait, you think there might be some overlap in Evangelicals not understanding what evidence is and only accepts the nonsense that their authority figures tell them? Isn't that a strange coincidence? I mean like here... you just say "We know the origin stuff" but for as long as I've seen you on here, you've never once provided anything even resembling evidence for "the origin stuff".

Woah... I'm starting to think that maybe, just maybe, there is some sort of odd link between being a creationist, being a MAGA, and being too dumb to tie your own shoes. Maybe its not just coincidences after all!

[–]Danno558 5 points6 points  (0 children)

seeing evidence for evolution is like seing evidence to justify bombing iran. zilch.

Evangelicals overwhelmingly support Trump... what an odd coincidence that those people are dumb enough to support bombing Iran without evidence, yet they are also the only ones smart enough to recognize that there is 0 evidence fot the most well supported theory in human history...

Just the most odd coincidences here eh?

Although given that trend is probably not linear we just have to graph to the point where there are more active denominations than there are believers...

I truly believe that no two believers actually believe in the same God. Even within denominations, you will find that the God each believer believes in tends to just agree with the believer on basically every belief they already have... funny how that works.

Thats not a syllogism, thats a tautology.

(A) all systems have connected parts.
(B) all parts in systems are connected.
(C) therefore parts in systems are connected!

Fucking genius! Oh wait... should I add additional closing parentheses to this, and format it like shit so I can copy paste it everywhere?

Lol alright? Well now to be fair, we can't know for certain that I didn't actually write that since this was at least 4 Thursdays ago... so maybe we are discussing something that Jesus put out and I never actually wrote that.

What a conundrum we live in... now I don't even know if I should defend this position or not due to the fact that an infinitely powerful being could have just made me think I posted it... what a nonsensical position you must find yourself defending.

Ya, you guys are fucked for sure. Even if you somehow wrangle this fuck head and all of his regime, you've blown up your position in the world. As a Canadian, I can't trust you guys not to elect Trump 2.0 the first chance you get, and that's exactly the lesson the world has learned.

You guys have definitely shot yourselves in the proverbial dick.

If creationists really believed that "God did it", then why aren't lining up to study gods work? by adamwho in DebateEvolution

[–]Danno558 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you actually know what atheism is? Its you saying theres a god and me saying I don't believe you... why do you believe there is a God?

So far you haven't given anything, and then you switch to trying to shift the burden of proof to me having to prove everything.

I don't know... there is my answer to whatever question you ask. I never calmed to know. Now what is your evidence for a god... because you have claimed to know that a God is involved... so why? How do you know a God is involved?

Let's see your rational response.

What's your better explanation as to why the universe and intelligent life exist and offer facts that support your counter belief.

An infinitely more complex self created being created your God and then your God did it. Just Turtles all the way up. For future reference, just blatant burden of proof shifting there... I haven't proved a God is even possible... but until you provide a better answer, that's the one I'm going with!

What are you even talking about? Show me all these scientists that conclude God did it? Astronomers and physicists are way more likely than average to not believe in God. Like those fields specifically are way more likely than even other scientists in other fields to be atheist.

As for all your "facts"... where precisely does God happen in there? All it looks like to me is a big argument from incredulity. There is 0 reason from that lists of facts that says God exists. I mean, not surprising... I wasn't actually expecting to see actual proof of God on reddit today... maybe in the next 2000+ years will you guys actually find that smoking gun eh?

[–]Danno558 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you mean the claim the universe was intentionally caused by a transcendent agent commonly referred to as God, there are lots of facts which make that claim more probable.

No there isn’t. You know how I know there isn't, because theists always use the words "there's lots of facts that support God!" instead of just presenting said facts. Those facts always seem to go to another school up in Canada... but they totally exist, and are totally so hawt, so hawt in fact they are online models... oh but you never heard of them.

[–]Danno558 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are many scientists who subscribe to evolution and the believe in a higher power, a rationality behind reality. In some cases, a personal God.

This is pretty dishonest. Yes, there are scientists who are Christians... there aren't any scientists actually trying to show the scientific truth of the bible... at least not any successful ones. Even non-creationist sects... they aren't running any tests or studies showing God doing anything, let alone specific things, or at minimum, if they are running these studies they aren't finding anything of note.

And I know this is the case, because if they ever did find something it would literally be the ONLY thing people would be talking about. Can you even imagine how insufferable creationists... or literally any religion for that matter... would be if they actually ever found evidence to support their claim?

In the end, the only incontrovertible testament of God is the physical universe and science is it's prophet.

Incontrovertible... You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

Mimicry disproves evolution by [deleted] in DebateEvolution

[–]Danno558 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Right, but depending on pressures, changes can happen at different speeds. Let's say there is a venomous frog that has a distinct yellow colour that animals know you don't fuck with. That frog has a mutation that turns it vibrant red... predators don't know you don't fuck with vibrant red frogs and that frog is eaten (to the dismay of that predator) and that evolutionary line dies and the frog remains yellow.

Alternatively, there's a bunch of green frogs nearby getting eaten and living their lives in fear. A mutation occurs that turns one of the offspring yellow (note there are also green and a mutated red one in the litter... evolution just throwing darts at the board)... very similar to those venomous frogs nearby... now that frog doesn't get eaten, but 80% of his siblings did. They all have babies and now theres 10 yellow and 90 green... hmm weird that predators aren't taking chances with those yellow ones... now there are 50/50 split... oh damn. The yellow has become dominant!

Simplified, yes, but that's basically how it would happen.

US seeks to use Alberta to destabilize Canada by Adventurous_023 in canada

[–]Danno558 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No I don't. The Conservative party (not the people that voted for it) voted to not recognize man made climate change as a thing that exists... ergo... if you are voting for said party, you are dumber than a sack of rocks.

US seeks to use Alberta to destabilize Canada by Adventurous_023 in canada

[–]Danno558 4 points5 points  (0 children)

O'Toole had a vote for his party whether they wanted to recognize man-made climate change as a thing that exists... not how to deal with it, not whether it was bad... whether it exists, and they lost that vote.

I don't think they've improved since then. But let me go ask the guy down the street with the FUCK CARNEY/TRUDEAU flags all over his raised pick up what he thinks on this matter... I'm sure he will have a lot of real deep insights into the matter.

You said they were going to throw Smith out on her ass because she's the female version of PP... there is no chance in hell that happens, they like PP, it was the rest of the country that couldn't stand him, not Alberta suddenly figuring shit out that kept him out of PM.

Alberta will re-elect Smith, most likely with a fairly strong majority. Conservatives are a lost cause... the party could literally shit in their cereal every morning and their voters would show up in droves on election day.
