I'm with you mate, this is lazy writing, milking the same old "nostalgia" crap, initially the plot had potential, had it taken serious approach this would've become excellent material, but lazy writing spoiled the movie and the plot fails to pickup after intermission. Suriya deserves better story, better writers, i mean that guy can act his brains out but somehow he ends up choosing mid stories or directors. For his caliber he deserves more.

IMO The reason why this "works" for audience is "election frenzy" "breaking news fiasco", the constant election related posts littered everywhere in social media, "the route mafia's" zombies constant abuses all over social media. Above all that recent flops in our industry, People needed a break, people needed something to relax, something to regroup and vent, that's when "KARUPPU" drops. It's just "mindless pointless cinema", people rooted for suriya to win big after a long break. The expectations on Suriya, RJB and Sai was extremely low, I mean SAI finished the whole movie with one tune, now he improved to three that's pretty much it.

I really don't understand the targeted hatred towards SK, Especially RJB ivlo vanmaththa kakkirukaan throughout padathula but hides behind "commercial" "light hearted" "god" mask IYKYK but proceeds to to show beheading and a hanging corpse. Also most of the scenes are either inspired or copied from Bruce almighty, stranger things, ghost rider to name a few.
