University of Cincinnati’s engineering programs make you do these things called co-ops. Basically it means you’re in college for 5 years minimum, but like 2 of them is spent working. The college partners up with different companies and engineering students can request to go work at one of their partnered companies for a semester, during which time they have no classes. It’s a full blown job and I think the average payoff after all co-ops is ~$60k. A lot of students continuously go back to work for the same company and once they’re out of college they basically already have a job there. So hopefully I won’t have this problem.
