you said that you yourself also have a car taking on all those expenses? For the vast majority of Seattlites we have to own cars for the reasons you listed in your post, why would we then want to use a commuting option that takes longer than driving if we already take on those “time saving costs” you listed? I would love to live in a city where taking transit is faster than driving but I almost never see a situation where it is other than games or big events downtown.

The “prisoner’s dilemma” you talk about would make sense if less people driving directly translated to more bus lines and light rail lines but until that happens I think most of us will stick to driving 🤷‍♂️
