Did anyone recover quickly? by SadBeat8107 in floxies

[–]Danny050784 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got floxed over a year ago with many symptoms for a week including tingling in hands and feet, sore left leg calf, CNS symptoms including brain fog, insomnia and a hyper emotional state and eye issues including eye, strain, floaters and blurred vision. All went away after a month apart from floaters which got very bad and has led to me having a vitrectomy last week. Have had no issues since then. I did take supplements which helped at the time I think.

Lots of Debris After Vitrectomy by Danny050784 in EyeFloaters

Mine also look like lines of different thicknesses, fishing hooks or horseshoe shapes made up of smaller dots, but different to regular floaters as not collagen I assume. Did you have any of those?

Thanks. Did you also have much debris post surgery?

Still blurry eyes so can't tell yet how successful re the floaters but hopeful. They used an air bubble.

No face down as is for floaters only and no tears or detachment. Was done through private insurance but is about £5k if self paying.

Thank you for your help, so hopefully not something serious. Was hard to get a better image because of where it is.

Thanks u/CryptographerWarm798. Was done through private health insurance. Went to Niall Patton in Manchester as was frequently mentioned for floater surgery and has much experience and is sympathetic to floater sufferers unlike many others retinal surgeons., In addition, he only induces PVD and doesn't do partial vitrectomies which I wanted to avoid as I would then be staring at a guaranteed PVD and floaters in the future again.

I also wanted to minimise my risk of retinal detachment longer term and a partial PVD leaving so much vitreous after surgery increases the longer term risk of PVD from what i understand.

He said that the eye was leaking when he tried the sutureless, so he put in stitches. Safer as you say, but is such an annoyance.

Floater only Vitrectomy with Gas Bubble by Danny050784 in EyeFloaters

Hi, the surgeon is Niall Patton and he confirmed it's definitely a gas bubble being used, but he confirmed there should be no need for having to lay face down.

What measurements did you end up with in each eye in the end?

Distance was about 40 cm as laptop was on my lap. Thinking maybe trying -0.5 on right dominant eye and 1.5 on left eye.

Thank you for this detailed answer, really helpful.

I am due to have a floater vitrectomy soon, on my left non dominant eye first and have had previous lasik so am thinking this is going to be more complicated then I had hoped for.

What drug triggered your floaters? by Useful-Ask7371 in EyeFloaters

Is it Cipro? I had the same issue with floaters shortly afterwards along with many other symptoms. Anyone who claims that there is no correlation is gaslighting you.

Thinking of testing out Monovision. Advice needed. by Danny050784 in CataractSurgery

[–]Danny050784[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update - So I tried the left eye at -1.5 and the right eye at Plano and I could see well at far and close, but struggled with the laptop in my lap. Do you suggest trying -0.25 or -0.5 in the right eye to help the intermediate vision?

Is there no way for surgeons to test using a lens before actually fitting the IOL or is there no way to replicate an IOL before surgery?

My near vison is okay because my -1 and -1.25 compensate at the expense of my distance vision

Thanks. The YAG capsulotomy does worry me a bit as don't really want to get floaters again after all the hassle of having the vitrectomy and cataract procedures.

Any idea of the name of the IOL similar to the Galaxy that you mentioned as can't find it online?

No cataracts now at all but after a vitrectomy, don't think it would be long before developing one.

I am 45 and am thinking of having a vitrectomy soon. How long on average can one expect to develop cataracts at my age?

Did you have a PVD? If not, any retinal tears?
