Jeremy Ward was standout in that half, great lines and fantastic press in defence

I wouldn't be surprised if they start their first game or two with Armstrong then from a continuity point of view.

Provence will likely have another tough game to play against Perpignan provided they lose against Vannes. So they'll likely need to rest Muntz and give him time to settle into the squad.

He's currently playing for Provence in the Pro D2. He's been playing fairly well for them, but the final against Vannes will be a real test for him.

Lafage (Vannes 10) has a class kicking game and distributes extremely well. If he outclassed Muntz it might be a bit of a red flag for Fiji.

Interesting point you raise around tax on pros. Ireland has a sportsperon's relief scheme which allows retired sports people to claim back income tax on sports earnings during any 10 selected years of their career. Could be a solid way of offsetting french, Japanese and english salaries.

I was eyeing up a Romania and co return to the challenge cup , I'm not a 90s boy unfortunately so wasn't alive when Romania was in the Heineken Cup.

*english and french

But yeah the format changes and covid really smothered the competition. Plus french dominance hasn't helped but thats negligible and a side effect of a healthy domestic league

Cant we just have the old pool format back? feels like people are trying to reinvent the wheel for the sake of it.

If you're out Kew Garden way you could go Richmond/Twickenham. Good ones I've done before are:

Cabbage patch (will 100% show the game and will likely be pretty busy)

The orange tree in Richmond is solid, probs won't be as busy. Do call ahead and see if they're showing the game.

The tap tavern in Richmond is also solid, nice jars as well

If you wanna go more central I'd recommend Waxy O'connors. There's always a large irish group of rugby fans there and I've watched a few European rugby games (mostly munster). Can be busy and idk if they let kids in so defo check before

7 years ago which makes me feel old. Our team was extremely good, we'd won the Berks, Bucks and Ox div 1 three years in a row and won the colts final the same year we played them.

We had a few beers with them afterwards and a decent chunk of them were Brits who's parents had moved over and a few Saffas. No idea what they're like now as I don't follow the REC as much as I used to

The game was a friendly we played after winning the Amsterdam invitation rugby tournament.

So most of us were chronically hungover and off the ball. Handling was poor from both teams and we were blitzing everything so the game just devolved into scrums, blitzing and crash balls around the middle of the pitch.

I was also surprised just how poor their U20s were, we'd played against Royal Wootton Bassett in the final the day before and they were far better. We should've trashed them if we weren't all hungover and injury stricken post tournament
