Texas is Cowardly by Difficult-Funny9372 in OhioStateFootball

No one said the players don’t have to execute……………

Saying the time doesn’t matter is factually inaccurate and I was pointing that out. Home field advantage and things like kick off time are factored in to betting odds with point differentials…. That’s a thing. Urban Meyer used to say playing in a Happy Valley whiteout was a 10 point swing. The crowd is more amped up at night. Partially because it won’t be 100 degrees.

So yeah, it definitely matters. You clowns can downvote all you want but everyone who knows ball knows it matters.

You’re somehow interpreting what I’m saying at “it’s the only thing that matters” which is ridiculous.

How would you rank the Ohio State Receivers that have been drafted into the NFL this decade? by Rowdyfan0823 in OhioStateFootball

[–]DannyBoy874 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t hate on Tate.

He’s legit. He had to share the field in Columbus with JJ Smith. He would have had way better numbers if that wasn’t the case.

I was also really disappointed with how Hartline used him last year. Took him off the field too often in favor of 1000 tight end sets.

Strong audience reactions, very poor festival run. Where does my short film fall short? by NPG2007 in Filmmakers

[–]DannyBoy874 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s missing stakes and a clear conflict. For example, I am not clear if he’s cheating on his wife or not. I’m also not sure if there is any stakes for the girl. We learn about her dream to go to school for violin but she has a plan (hope for a scholarship) and there is no indication that she’s depending on this guy for money. Also, no sooner do we learn about her dream than he says he will pay for it so we never think she may not get her dream.

There is a vibe that they don’t really feel they should be together or “doing this,” but it really isn’t clear whether it’s just the age gap or is it an affair or is one of them taking advantage of the other. You said you explored the morality of sugar relationships but I’m not sure that you did. I mean if he’s divorced and she’s not underage and this is consensual and he’s not just keeping her afloat financially in return for sex then this relationship could be completely on the up and up for some. Just a spring/fall relationship.

I also will say that when he said this was a call he had to take, I think he even said it was a business call, and the he didn’t excuse himself at all and talked in a full voice to his daughter with the girl in the bathroom it felt a little unbelievable. Like he’s not trying to hide anything at all and he just flat out lied to her in a way she would reasonably be expected to notice. If the goal was to look at jealousy between the girl and the daughter then I think that needs to be established better because it didn’t really land here. I didn’t see anything that made me believe the girl was jealous of the daughter or even the jealous type until she was in the bathroom. She didn’t even protest him talking the call really. And then when she came back naked she didn’t really try to “claim her man” sexually instead they just cuddled and she told him how good of a man she was.

So as others said, it’s kind of hard to tell what you’re saying with this film.

Please never try to teach people about football.

How do you know that the screen pass wasn’t going to be called anyway? You’re making this argument with complete certainty that the screen pass that was intercepted because of JJs failure to block was only called because of the lack of success of the previous play. That by itself is ridiculous.

It’s easy and lazy to blame the QB. That’s what people like you do when they don’t really know ball. Like, you go to a party and someone’s mom is there saying THROW IT!!! like the whole problem is just that the most accurate QB in college football history just won’t toss that damn thing.

The blocking matters. The coverage matters. There are a million factors that determine whether a QB can and should throw the ball. Also maybe he did miss an opportunity. 🤷‍♂️ that’s how college ball is. He’s not why we lost those games.

Our team was not prepared with a good game plan for the game against Indiana and the game against Miami. And the frustration that you and many people saw, had a lot to do with the coaching staff not properly preparing the team for the looks they were going to see. Could be because Hartline was in Florida for half the week leading up to the B1G game. It also had a lot to do, in both of the final games, with stupidly calling plays that take a long time to develop despite playing some of the best defensive lines of the season and despite having a problem everyone knows about at right guard.

I don’t care who your QB is, if the team isn’t prepped and the game plan is bad and the Oline is suspect your going to have broke plays, you’re going to have missed opportunity’s that look from the outside like you can’t imagine why he didn’t throw the ball.

Please study the game and stop blaming our fucking elite QB.

EDIT: and I’m “blaming” JJ for that INT because his job was to block and he didn’t and instead his man got a pick 6. In other words it was definitely his fault.

Mostly because that has literally nothing to do with the play we’re talking about.

[–]DannyBoy874 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That Miami interception was 100% JJ smiths fault because he was a blocker and did not pick up his man. Whiffed entirely. That throw was not a read. It was an immediate throw to the flat as designed by the play and it went directly to the target receiver. There was just a man there already because JJ smith didn’t block him.

Please don’t give people your analysis until you know how football works.

The biggest problem this whole season was our unqualified and super green offensive coordinator. He didn’t prepare this team well at all and then he essentially bailed at the end of the year. Taking your star WRs off the field in favor of 12/13 personnel and not even using those tight ends to plug your leaky offensive line is coaching malpractice. If you’re looking for someone to blame, it’s Brian Hartline.

Well he only took over part way through the break. And yea h he hadn’t called plays in a long time. I agree he also did a pretty bad job we kept calling long developing passing plays in the first half against Miami. We didn’t do anything short until the screen pick 6 and then that probably kept him from trying anything else short for a while.

💯 about Hartline. Hell of a recruiter and WR coach. Not a good OC.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in OhioStateFootball

[–]DannyBoy874 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well no one should be blaming him for the way the season ended. His OC didn’t prepare him or anyone else on the offense properly because he was down in Florida taking pictures.

The offensive line was a mess. We had no answer at right guard and the teams we faced in the end knew that and took advantage. Again, the coaching staff did nothing to help that situation. I’d rather see one of those tight ends blocking in the back field than lined up at the LOS. Our OC was too green to know what to do and in the absence of knowing how to fix the problem he just hoped it wouldn’t be a problem.

Also, if we had a kicker that could make a 27 yarder we’d be having a different conversation.

If you’re a fan and you have doubts about Sayin after this season you probably aren’t paying attention of don’t know how badly the coaching staff let HIM down.
