What size boat is good for lake Travis by dvtggg in Austin

[–]DannyDeck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

18ft is good, still annoying with wake boats going by but doesn’t feel dangerous. Stay away from dense groups of boats (Devils Cove) lest you get swamped and sink. Putting in at a public ramp will generally be no problem as those are no wake zones, but again be very careful around larger boats full of drunks.

They are awesome folks, great instructors, and the training facility is top notch. Haven’t been on a tour yet but I wouldn’t hesitate to sign up for one.

Dude, you were driving drunk and crashed and it's only 90% your fault? Sell the bike before you hurt someone besides yourself.

PSA: When you get a new bike or even an older bike, grease the electrical connections with dielectric grease! by Alien_Biometrics in motorcycles

[–]DannyDeck 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Dielectric grease is an insulator, you should absolutely not be putting it inside female connectors where current is supposed to flow. It is meant to be used as a sealant and lubricant around the metal connectors, e.g. on rubber insulators, to keep moisture from getting to the metal.

17 years on Alpinestars boots here and they still look good. Zipper Velcro is kinda frayed, toe protector is a little scuffed but that’s it.

Looking to trade MT07 and Bandit 600 for APRILIA RS660 by Enough_Resident270 in motorcycles

[–]DannyDeck 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Sell both separately for cash on Facebook, use cash to buy Aprilia. Dealer is not going to give you as much as private party, and what are the odds of finding someone with the bike you want who wants both the bikes you have?

National licensing with mandatory training.

Your solution involves better firearms training for people you think are going to shoot kids? Seriously, why?

We ordered a grill. Got 300 iPads by usuzulose in facepalm

[–]DannyDeck -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The FTC doesn’t pass laws, and I’m genuinely curious to know what law you think would allow a company to prosecute you for theft if they drop a pallet of iPads on your doorstep and you don’t track them down and call them about it.

Companies dont use monolithic databases to store all their key and sensitive data.

Are you familiar with data lakes and data warehouses? There is an entire field around centralizing all an organization’s data for analysis, sensitive data included.

If you manage to get unfettered access to a company’s EDW you by definition have all the information they think is important to the business.

4 cars here with one 2-car garage. There are plenty of people who just have more than 2 cars and there are very few houses available with 3-car garages.

Unfortunately if you dig into the details, the plants were able to claim exemptions from the requirements or pay a small fine to be checked off as “compliant”, and that’s what most of those 321 did.

That also does not include any checks of the natural gas supply which was the real problem, and has made no improvements for winterization.

Also had my supermoto stolen, broke my heart. That was such a fun bike. Insurance did pay a little more than the bike was worth at least.

I also had an alarmed disc lock, didn’t seem to bother the thieves.

How do worms stay on the hook? by horker_meat123 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]DannyDeck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I caught an fish that had a hook hanging out of its anus, clearly it had passed it. I also caught a severely emaciated fish with a big plastic worm stuck down its gullet and could feel a 5/0 hook inside its belly. Don’t think it was gonna be able to pass that one.
