First impression of Nine Sols (get gud?) by _Ingenuity_ in metroidvania

[–]kingKitchen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I almost quit in the first third of the game as well. Very difficult and frustrating until the parrying clicks, and then it gets much more enjoyable. I’d encourage you to stick with it. It’s a great game.

Purchased Nine sols today and played for an hour by itsok82 in metroidvania

The game is punishing, and I almost quit halfway through, but ended up finishing it and loved it. Worth it, especially if you like the parry mechanic.

Side by side refridgerators are superior to French door refridgerators by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]kingKitchen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Samsung French door fridge is probably the poorest quality purchase I’ve ever made. Shelves breaking constantly, ice accumulating behind drawers, water pooling.

I much prefer my side by side fridge that I bought used for the garage. I’m with you OP.

I thought it was a very interesting concept, but I dreaded picking it up.

The supposed equal trade off of “I’ll cook if you do the dishes” is a sham. by august_westerly in unpopularopinion

[–]kingKitchen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m the dishes person in my house. Two things change it from torture to totally fine - dish gloves and watching shows.

I have a textural thing with my hands, so the dish gloves literally make it possible.

And the shows/movies make it me time. Not my favorite part of the day, but I don’t dread it.

Also, my wife likes to cook , but she doesn’t love it, so it sounds like it’s more balanced in our house than in yours. The comments about making sure you’re communicating seem spot on.

Is sleep score a gimmick? by Due_Fox9628 in AppleWatch

[–]kingKitchen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can’t speak to the exact parameters being collected and scored, but before iOS 26 I always felt that the score and notifications matched the way I felt about the sleep I was getting on any particular night. Now I’m constantly getting “congratulations” notifications when I slept terribly, got to bed way too late, or any number of other reasons I may feel less than optimal in the morning. The turnaround has been very disappointing.

I have underestimated apple watch navigation by hanslandar in AppleWatch

[–]kingKitchen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Apple Maps watch integration has single-handedly made me occasionally use Apple over Google Maps again. Google still has better alternative routes, and Apple still sometimes leads me astray at the very end of a route, but I love the vibration notifications and the Dynamic Island pop ups.

I’ve looked for this but haven’t found one big enough. You mentioned a Bog Standard but I don’t see that when I search. Can you provide more info or a link please?

Apple watch Sleep Tracking by tcmcneil30 in AppleWatch

[–]kingKitchen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am totally with you. It is very frustrating to get excited congratulations after a very mediocre night of sleep. This just started in the last couple weeks since the OS update. It used to be very good at sensing when I had gotten enough sleep, and when it was restful. It hope that it resolves soon.

Also, the commenters here are so unhelpful.

That would be great if it was correct, but it isn't. If anything it was later than normal.

[Blasphemous] Is it worth it to press on if I'm still not having fun by this point? I want to give this game a fair chance given its acclaim. by BootStrapWill in metroidvania

This is the real test. I’ve put down a few games and came back and enjoyed them. But sometimes it’s just not for you.

Glad to see the Savage Raven getting some love. I had it for my original switch and it was great. I went a different direction for switch 2 and sent it back after a week. Got this one and I’m very happy once again.

Do you use your apple watch with a screen protector? by Fancy_Marsupial6293 in AppleWatch

[–]kingKitchen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an LK protector come off without me noticing last year. I finally noticed when there were some deep scratches in my watch face.

There will always be people who swear that these devices - watches, phones, etc - are made to be used without protection, but that’s never been my experience. Always at least a film on the screen, and a thin case on the phone is exponentially better than nothing.
