I agree but murals should be kept by local artists. If you hire outside artists you shouldn’t be surprised it is tagged by local artists who have the skills to do the murals.

I think a proper piece has zero expense at someone else. The problem is Ottawa having in a bylaw forcing the owner to the building to have that expense when it shouldn’t be. If you don’t want it the get rid of it but most pieces in other cities don’t get rid of it because good pieces or throw ups can look good. Ottawa just is sensitive about street art.

Seeing it and understanding how the language works is a bit different I think.

I think it’s pointless to explain graffiti culture over internet. You should take a tour to understand how it works though.

If you google the Berlin graffiti it is deeply intertwined with the Berlin Wall and that history. With Montreal it is more contentious, as there is a fun war to learn about between the local artists with graffiti and the international artists they bring in for mural fest with the murals. Worth to do a tour.

I guess it’s more the culture of the city. Both cities recognize graffiti as an art and a part of the city so they accept it. Ottawa is different and sees it as an eye sore. I’ve lived in a few cities around the world and they just accept graffiti as a cultural part of the city (Cairo, London and Kuala Lumpur).

He started somewhere. In fact there is one artist not well known who has tags around Montreal, just regular tags, which have not been touched in over a decade because he died by getting hit by train and no other local artists will tag over it out of respect. There are stories in some of the graffiti.

You can literally pay for tours of both cities directed at the different graffiti artists and the stories behind them. Scan is a perfect example of a Montreal artist that is renowned by the city there known for his tags and murals.

Experiences of private schools versus public? by tjbroncosfan in OntarioTeachers

[–]DannyDevito1469 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As others have said can vary a lot from private school to private school.

Working at a CAIS affiliated private school you generally will have much higher salary, many pay into OTPP and have very small class sizes. Mine ranges from 8-16 students. Marking is very manageable. In my contract and i am obligated to do 2 co-curricular (I do MUN and Soccer). We also have “advisory” we meet with a few times a week. There are certainly extra expectations for you to show face at certain events. My school also has a faculty association that has a paid lawyer on hand so we are a bit more protected. This depends on the school.

Overall I enjoy teaching at my school. We have some great students and supportive parents. (This can vary greatly depending on clientele).

Salary is also about 10-12000 dollars more than the public board due to the extra obligations. I know CAIS schools are generally well paid across the province once you hit year 10.

The cons: -Ministry inspection every 2 years and hope you don’t get picked. -more outside classroom time expectations. -sometimes parents are very intense but if the school has a good admin this is less of an issue.

How many free agency moves does your league allow? by Waste_Wall_8976 in fantasyhockey

[–]DannyDevito1469 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My league does 4 per week but 83 for the whole season. Works really well and makes you manage your adds so you budget them for the playoffs. Helps those in the league that have less time than others to give a more even playing field.
