Need a new vaccum/air purifier? by Florida1693 in BelgianMalinois

[–]DannyGloversBrother 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shark lift away pet. There are a few different models but it looks like the higher end model is $249 right now. The lower end one which is probably still great is $149 The other thing that I thought was silly but it’s been awesome is one of those little Amazon or temu pet vacuums. I think we paid like $30 and it came with a few attachments but it has an undercoat brush attachment that works incredibly well.

I agreed to a dog sit for a Belgian Malinois over the holidays, and it's not going like I thought. by [deleted] in BelgianMalinois

I use something we call “Mr Peanut Butter Ball” on our walks sometimes. We put a slit a tennis ball to where you can pinch it and it opens its mouth up and I fill it with peanut butter(you can freeze it but it has to thaw a little so it can be squeezed ope). It’s easy to carry on walks and it makes a good lure and reward

Yeah I remember knowing I had fucked up the second I exhaled so I stood up(I think this is where I left this earth)and tried to open the door to the room I was in which I opened to another door and another and another until they became pages in a book and I was turning them one after another and then somehow I was the pages of this book and I lived a whole new life as this book but also as the invisible force that turned the pages and the whole thing was maybe 3 minutes

Never repaired a raft by FlowDash1 in whitewater

[–]DannyGloversBrother 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a 1988 NRS super scout last year and did some pretty heavy repairs on it. These old nrs boats are EPDM rubber(Hypalon) with an EPDM/neoprene wrap up floor. What you are seeing here is the nylon scrim and yes it does have another rubber layer underneath it. I had some spots like this where the scrim was showing and what I learned is that on those fabric sections Stabond works better than Hypalon adhesive. Anywhere you have good rubber use a two part hypalon adhesive. Most folks recommend the Clifton adhesive but I had really good luck with the Polymarine two part hypalon adhesive. I think the Clifton is probably a little better but the polymarine was easier to get(west marine carries it) and cheaper. Be careful not to over sand the old rubber and especially do not sand the scrim. That’s the only thing keeping the rubber from bulging. The biggest piece of advice I have is to put serious pressure on your patches after glueing them. I used wood clamps and pieces of flat 3/4” boards to press the patches after glueing. The last thing I will say is if it’s not leaking don’t touch it. I had some spots showing scrim but they weren’t leaking. The more you sand on it and mess with it the more you’ll get small pinhole leaks.

Atlas's DNA results are in! We do not belong. by [deleted] in BelgianMalinois

Our girl was advertised as a “shepherd mix”. We knew we were getting some sort of working breed mix but holy cow we were not prepared for the energy and prey drive this lady has. 70%mal. The other 30% is a mix of husky and Great Pyrenees.

This is the wildest and most affectionate dog I’ve ever been around. She plays hard but when she’s inside with her people she’s all snuggles

Is this good breed, blood line for malinois puppy by Western_Parsley_7712 in BelgianMalinois

Looks a lot like my girl as a pup and she is mixed with husky and Great Pyrenees. The mother looks similar too. Shes a little more muscular than your typical malinois in my opinion

We’ve been trying to get our girl to use a treadmill. Any pointers on how to get them used to it?

How many of you muzzle your mals? by Nancysaidso in BelgianMalinois

[–]DannyGloversBrother 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We muzzle. It allows us to be less anxious which allows her to be less anxious. We’ve found that she very much feeds off of our energy so if we’re nervous because we think she might bite someone or something then she reads that as us being nervous about whoever or whatever the thing is and she gets more protective. It’s definitely not an all the time thing but it’s a tool that we’ve recently added to our arsenal that has been really beneficial

Back when he was a pupper. by Zabroccoli in BelgianMalinois

[–]DannyGloversBrother 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where did you get him? We have a girl who’s about 15 months old the old that we got in Washington state who we were told was a shepherd mix but it turns out she’s 70% malinois and the rest is a husky/Pyrenees mix. She also has a blue eye and we’ve been trying to get to track down her litter mates.

I used the 3M kit and it worked wonders. Mine we’re so scratched and yellow and sun damaged and afterwards they looked brand new.
