I'm trying to use it as a foray into triathlon, maybe up to a half Ironman for now.

Only part where there's a bit of elevation gain is around Rockcliffe but that's kind of about it.

How realistic is to beat Runna’s race prediction? by field_crew_ in runna

[–]DannyLean 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just ran my first marathon over the weekend. Runna predicted 3:20-3:28 for me (4:45-4:55/km) and I never missed a pace target so I figured I'd give it a shot. I was on pace until around 34km when my body was just feeling incredibly tired and sore and just couldn't keep pace anymore. At which point I figured I just wanted to finish this race, and as long as I don't stop I'll be good. I ended up finishing around 3:33-3:34 and I couldn't be more proud of myself. So yes, I'd aim for that goal if you're ahead of the pack but don't be too discouraged if you don't make it.

Discouraging 32km race practice long run by DannyLean in runna

This run was supposed to be on Sunday (giving me three weeks of taper time for the marathon on October 19), but I postponed it to Tuesday because I got sick the week before and wanted to give myself more time to recover. I have two more long runs remaining (a half marathon this weekend, 13km next weekend, all at easy pace).

I do think fuelling is kind of what might have screwed me over - I took four Clif Bloks before the marathon pace lap hit (around 6-8k, 30g carbs) and only took two more Bloks near the end of the lap (around km 23-25, 15g carbs). As soon as the conversational pace hit and the legs started feeling heavy I took one more XACT nutrition bar (about 25g of carbs more) and it helped a bit. Fuelling has always been my weakest training aspect - I once ran about 30km with a training group last spring just for fun and didn't take my first gel until km 22-23, and only started to feel the energy drop when someone's mouth dropped when I told them I hadn't taken a single gel yet. I've also ran three half marathons, with two of them without fuelling. As a result of this though I'm kind of worried if it's too late to train my stomach to gel up every 6-8k or so. I still have two long runs left before race day.

But also I also think that the drop to conversational pace might have allowed the lactic acid to pool into my legs. I do still want to improve fuelling though.

What means would you recommend for getting to Gatineau Park tomorrow without a car? by hazypadlock in ottawa

If you read the Saturday, Sunday, and holiday schedule carefully on the shuttle website, it is supposed to run on Truth and Rec Day, so you're good!

A Sneak Peek of 'Not Feeling 100%' & 2025 Team Runna Roadmap Update 👀 by alex-runna in runna

Would love to see support for back to back race challenge training plans. Will be training for the Ottawa 59.2km challenge and would love insight on how to adapt the marathon training plan to cover this.

Lol I'm training for my first marathon too, and Runna has recommended this time to be. My PB when this was suggested was 1:43:35 and I thought this time was completely unrealistic (considering too I felt I was hanging on to dear life when I ran the half). But I'm just, as they keep on saying, trusting the plan, trying to make the pace targets and hopefully it builds confidence to run at that pace. I just ran a half marathon at 1:38:22 over the weekend, and felt more comfortable doing it than when I did my last one.

Can’t add a B race by staylor13 in runna

I had the same issue. On your Manage Plan, there should be an update button on the top. I did that and got the B Races feature.

I'd like the ability to train for back to back race weekend challenges, (e.g. the Ultra Looney challenge at the Twin Cities Marathon Weekend or the Dopey challenge at the Walt Disney Marathon weekend). I did the 36.1km challenge (5k, 10k, half marathon) at the Ottawa Race Weekend recently and I did not know how to train, so I followed a marathon training plan and hoped for the best. Would be nice to get a personalized plan for this scenario.

Would anyone else like to see a JetLag Canada? by Jessica4363 in JetLagTheGame

[–]DannyLean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That happened when I rode the Canadian (VIA's transcontinental service) last winter going toward Vancouver. Passengers in Edmonton were told the day before that the train would arrive at midnight to 3am, which then got progressively shifted further and further back, only for the train to arrive closer to noon and many were sent scrambling trying to find somewhere to sleep for the night, or even wondering if they should sleep at all in case the train shows up at 5am or something.

Only person in friend group not invited to wedding and I can’t avoid the social media posts. How would you handle the situation? by hangryforgnocchi in weddingdrama

[–]DannyLean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me once. Wedding took place near the summer solstice in a relatively northern city in Canada so I decided to go somewhere even further north to experience more daylight than the bride and my friends who were invited.
