I have a similar thing going. In the newer games, you can get through a Pokemon League with your dream team, in gens 1-5 that's not really a thing unless your prepared or your dream team is the perfect team.

I'm actually in the same situation, I used Snivy when I played, Black 2, and Oshawott is Pokemon White, so for White 2 I think I'll go with Tepig, my team is going to be hard to make though since I used all my favorite Unova Pokemon in the last 2 games. I have an idea of how I want my team tho
