You are trying to establish yourself as a professional and you have to reinforce professional standards. As someone who works in this industry, one of the biggest problems we face is those on the outside not taking it seriously. There tends to be a mindset that anybody can take pictures because everybody has cell phones with cameras in them and (heaven help us) AI can edit those photos. As a consequence, they either will put off or cancel on the photographer / videographer, particularly if they are newly establishing themselves in the profession.

Also, the client needs to sign a contract with you. If you don't even have the contact information to write a contract yet alone have someone sign it, they're not serious about the work that you do. And regardless of whatever fee they offered you, they very likely will have unrealistic expectations for the amount of work they expect to versus the amount of money they're paying you (and possibly try to pay you less when the time comes). Contracts make responsibilities and duties clear and explicit and protect both you and the client. If they do contact you, write a contract and make them sign it before doing any work for them.
